Tony’s first full day off school? Spent in a music-fueled frenzy until 4AM! Meanwhile, Mike earned a day off and soaked in the Denver Art Museum like a classy gent. 🎨🎧

Radiation exposure and why you might glow with curiosity

Could we ever run out of music? Not if math has anything to say about it 🎶📊

Simulation theory: Are we all just Sims with better graphics?

Swearing: Every culture does it. Let’s f***ing talk about why.

Tony’s debate-watching confession and a Graham Hancock vs. Flint Dibble showdown 🧠💥

Elon vs. Trump: Beef of the Billionaires

Why maps are lying to us

    Aerogel. LOOK. IT. UP.

And quantum mechanics makes a strong case that… we’re probably in a simulation.

    2025/06/05

The amazingly talented, down-to-earth Dominique Gordon joins us this week—our second-ever guest in show history! 🙌 Dom does it all: author 📚, poet ✍️, songwriter 🎶, performer 🎤... and now, aspiring high school counselor 🎓 and budding stand-up comic 🎭.

We talked music influences (My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, and more 🤘), why being Black and loving rock music still raises eyebrows in some circles 👀, and what it means to find your creative voice—even if it sounds more Bob Dylan than MJ 😅.

    Also in the mix:

First-ever music purchases 💿 (prepare to cringe 😬)

    Hi-top fades and 90s hairdos 💈👑

Why being the boss kinda sucks sometimes 👔📉

Tony’s flashbacks to teaching during COVID 🧼🦠

Mike’s existential Taxi Driver rewatch 🚕💭

Dom’s leap into education (at the same age Tony made his!) 🧠✨

The mystery of who actually gets polled in polls 🤷‍♂️📊

    Fossil fuels… yikes ⛽😬

    And yes—flying cars, obviously 🚗💨🛸

This one’s packed with laughs, insights, and that sweet Saturday morning vibe ☕🎧. Let’s gooo!

  • Episode 233 — Allergies, AI Girlfriends & the Mandela Mind Melt
    2025/05/31

It’s our first-ever Monday episode (Memorial Day vibes!), and Tony’s already losing a fight to pollen — seriously, someone get this man some local honey. Mike’s gearing up to work the upcoming Dirty Heads triple-head show in Colorado, but we still found time to unpack way too many topics, including:

🌪 Shifting weather patterns & why your joints are better forecasters than the Weather Channel

🤖 AI girlfriends, including YouTuber Alex Stokes, who built his a robot body (because, of course)

🍑 STIs on the rise among seniors (whoa, Grandma!)

🎩 The Mandela Effect — why did we all swear the Monopoly guy had a monocle?! (Ace Ventura was the proof)

💊 Neuro gum, watermelon, jicama, and other ways we’re convincing ourselves we’re “healthy”

🐍 What if snakes, spiders, and predators were enormous? Who would animals vote for if they ran elections?

🏀 And yes… we’re salty. How did Joker not get MVP?!

Plus: Antarctica isn’t what you think, professional iceberg movers are real, and Mike & Tony wonder if they should pivot to being line-standers for cash.

Hit play — we’re bringing the weird this week!

    Cheers!

  • Episode 232: The Box of Tickets: A Journey Through Time (and Lawn Poop)
    2025/05/24

This week, Mike busted out his legendary Box of Tickets — a treasure trove he’s kept nearly his whole life — and took us on a hilarious, nostalgic, and occasionally weird trip through time.

    We sift through everything:
🎢 Six Flags Elitch Gardens, 2001 (Mike was 19, Tony was 21 — peak awkwardness)
💾 Remember Y2K panic? Yeah, we went there.
🎶 A concert from just last February popped up — ancient history, obviously.
👻 Ghost stories in old buildings.
🏒 University of Denver hockey games from 1995?!
🎬 Watching Spawn in the theater back in the day.

Oh — and Tony tells the absolutely insane story about the time his roommate invited homeless people inside… and one of them left a surprise on the front lawn. You’ll want to hear this one.

Buckle up for a memory-fueled ride with laughs, stories, and a dash of lawn chaos.

    Cheers!

  • Episode 231: Pickle Juice, Parrots, and Flaming USBs
    2025/05/10

It’s that time again—grab a Dr. Pepper, toss in a splash of pickle juice (wait, what?), and settle in for another chaotic ride with Mike and Tony.

Mike kicks things off with a true crime story straight outta Breckenridge: a coworker’s car got robbed at a conference, and someone made off with thousands in museum donations. Oh, and there were no security cameras—because of course there weren’t.

Meanwhile, Tony’s beefing with his third stapler of the school year. Middle schoolers: undefeated.

Tony’s also officially back in the studio recording his new album, so expect some upcoming social media action (and probably at least one video of him singing barefoot on a rug).

We also dive into parrot drama (yes, parrots): one was involved in a murder trial, another made a neighbor call the cops, and Mike reveals his very first parakeet experience.

    Plus:

    • The great gorilla vs. 100 men debate just won’t die

    • The domestication of cats (and why they’ve never respected you)

    • Tony’s new science podcast obsession

    • Zombie apocalypse weaponry

    • A preserved dinosaur from 10 million years ago

    • Kids lighting computers on fire with pencils (WHY?!)

    • And of course, the eternal struggle of teachers just trying to get basic supplies without selling a kidney.

Another unfiltered episode packed with curiosity, chaos, and questionable beverages.

    Cheers!

  • Episode 230: Murder, Music, and a 43,000-Year-Old Shrub
    2025/05/03

This week, Mike announces his latest side hustle: custom 3D-printed guitar picks—because what every musician needs is a pick made by a guy who loathes geese. Meanwhile, Tony is officially back in the music game with an album dropping this fall and plans to hit the stage again (watch out, Denver!).

We go deep on TikTok drumming prodigies, ancient nightmare fuel like 5-foot scorpions and 42-foot snakes, and the terrifyingly casual way psychopaths and sociopaths roam the world. Also: how many people actually get away with murder? Seems like probably a lot.

Then it’s Gorilla vs. Human—a cultural moment we couldn’t ignore. We each take a side, and no, it’s not the one you’d expect. Plus: a 43,000-year-old shrub in Tanzania that’s still kicking, and a breakdown of the personality differences between Pan troglodytes and Pan paniscus (aka: aggressive war chimps vs peaceful sexual chimps). Trippy stuff!

It’s chaos. It’s curious. It’s The Mike and Tony Show.

    Cheers!

We’ll be trying some new intro music over the next several weeks. Hit us up in the comments if you hear one you like.

  • Episode 229: The Avery Jacob Frequency
    2025/04/26

It’s Friday night in Colorado, the weather’s going haywire, and everyone’s battling a chest cold (forgive the occasional cough!). But that didn’t stop us from sitting down with the powerful rapper, bassist, songwriter, frontman, teacher, and free thinker—Avery Jacob.

Tony and Avery quickly discover a mutual connection through Denver drum phenom Alex Armstrong—turns out it really is a small world.

In this episode, we dive into deep conversation about creativity, purpose, and the art of teaching the next generation. Avery opens up about his creative process, the key to making timeless music, and what fuels his drive. We also explore the spiritual side of music, staying grounded through life’s chaos, and the value of flexibility in chasing fulfillment.

Then we get into Avery’s thoughts on neonatalism, his fear of snakes, and the great philosophical debate: can you separate the artist from the art? Oh—and the most important question of all (at least to Avery): what’s his favorite cheese? Tune in to find out.

Another episode in the books, and we’re stoked to share it with you. Avery Jacob is a force, and it’s always an honor having him on the show.

    Cheers,

  • Episode 228: Fat Trak - Adorable Tracks and Unreleased Heat
    2025/04/19

On a snowy Friday night following an 84-degree day (only in Denver, right?), we welcomed back fan-favorite guest, producer, beatmaker, and all-around solid dude—Fat Trak! He brought along some seriously adorable music created by his students, plus he blessed us with two exclusive unreleased tracks he finished just the night before.

Tony admits he loves to freestyle to Fat Trak’s beats… so naturally, Fat calls him out to drop a verse on the spot. Did Tony deliver? Well, you’ll have to listen and judge for yourself. Let us know in the comments!

Fat also shares some stories from his recent trip to Japan, where he went digging for records—and explains how those finds are shaping his upcoming release. He opens up about the emotions fueling the project, and then plays a track that left us almost speechless. (C’mon, we’re a podcast… we’ve always got something to say!)

This episode was a ride—heart, humor, and straight-up heat. Fat Trak showed up and showed out, letting us get to know him even better in his second visit to The Mike and Tony Show.

Oh, and we managed to sneak in some listener-submitted Dad jokes, Fun Facts, and a few other surprises too.

    Cheers,
