  • Aubrey de Grey: We WILL Defeat Aging – Immortality Is Coming - Part 1
    2025/02/17

Podcast Episode: Aubrey de Grey on the Science of Immortality & Longevity Escape Velocity

Is human immortality inevitable? According to Aubrey de Grey, one of the world’s leading longevity researchers, the answer is yes—or at least, aging will no longer be what kills us. He believes that by the late 2030s or early 2040s, we will reach Longevity Escape Velocity (LEV)—the point where we can repair the body faster than it deteriorates, meaning we may never have to die from aging.

Aubrey compares the human body to a car. A car may be designed to last only 15 years, but with perfect maintenance, it can keep running for a century or more. The same principle applies to humans: if we maintain and repair our bodies efficiently, there’s no reason we should succumb to aging.

In this episode, we explore what happens once we can rejuvenate the human body by 20 years and what that means for those alive today. Curing cancer could take as little as 2 to 2.5 years, and eliminating heart disease might only require 3 to 4 years. But beyond simply extending lifespan, how do we ensure that longevity is matched by quality of life?

We also dive into the case of Bryan Johnson, the biohacker on a mission to live past 150 years. While his ultra-optimized Blueprint lifestyle is slowing his aging, Aubrey de Grey explains why Bryan Johnson is not Jeanne Calment, the longest-lived human in recorded history. So can Bryan really reach his ambitious goal?

Beyond biology, we discuss the critical funding gap in longevity research, with de Grey estimating that $100 million could significantly accelerate progress toward solving aging. Could advances in Ozempic and Yamanaka Factorsplay a key role in future rejuvenation therapies? And how much impact will AI have on unlocking the secrets of longevity?

If Longevity Escape Velocity is inevitable, what does that mean for the future of humanity? Will people in their 40s and 50s today have a real chance at reaching 150 or beyond? Or are we still too far away from making this a reality?

Join the conversation as we explore the future of aging, longevity, and the quest to live indefinitely.

  • Game over Europe? Mindblowers Podcast with Michael Rosmer
    2024/12/20

In an era defined by AI breakthroughs, robotics innovations, electric vehicle (EV) production, and green energy solutions, both the United States and China have raced ahead, shaping the future of global industries. Europe, having largely missed the initial tech boom, now risks missing the next wave of transformative opportunities as well. Without a decisive pivot towards R&D investment, talent attraction, and proactive policy-making aimed at fueling entrepreneurship, Europe’s relative economic strength may continue to weaken. This doesn’t mean the continent will instantly lose its high standard of living, but over time, the disparity in wealth, technological capacity, and political influence could become painfully evident.

Is there hope? Europe has a rich history, world-class education systems, and established industries—factors that could still be leveraged if leaders choose to encourage innovation rather than merely enforce compliance. However, hope hinges on a collective will to push beyond the old playbook. Without that, Europe risks fading into the background of a world defined by U.S. and Chinese dominance. Stay tuned for more deep-dives and insights on future episodes of Mindblowers.

Michael Rosmer, known online as the Offshore Citizen, is an entrepreneur and global strategy consultant specializing in international tax optimization, business structuring, and residency solutions. He helps individuals and businesses navigate cross-border opportunities, establish overseas operations, and make the most of global citizenship and tax advantages.

Nuclear Fusion: The Future of Energy?

Our future will demand more and more energy. Artificial intelligence takes energy and so will AGI and robotics. Will nuclear fusion be ready to deliver clean abundant energy when we need it? Nuclear fusion, often called the holy grail of energy, promises to revolutionize the way we power our planet. Imagine an energy source that is clean, sustainable, virtually unlimited, and capable of solving some of humanity's biggest challenges. But can it truly deliver on its promise? And how close are we to achieving commercial fusion power? In this video, we’ll explore the current state of nuclear fusion, including when experts believe it will become a reality. Some optimists suggest commercial fusion could be available as early as 2028, while others believe it could take more than 50 years. What does Milena Roveda, CEO of Gauss Fusion, think about this ambitious timeline? Learn her unique perspective and insights from within the industry. Did you know that nuclear fusion is incredibly efficient? Just a single shot glass of tritium and deuterium can produce as much energy as 3 million kilograms of coal. It’s an astonishing leap in energy potential, offering the possibility of transforming our energy-hungry world into one powered by abundant, clean energy. However, achieving nuclear fusion isn’t without its challenges. In this video, we’ll discuss: The technological hurdles: From achieving the extreme temperatures needed to sustain fusion to managing plasma stability. Investment challenges: Are we investing enough in fusion technology? How do public and private efforts compare, and are they aligned with the urgency of the climate crisis? Global energy trends: What is the current energy mix (coal, nuclear, solar, etc.) in 2023, and how might it evolve by 2100 with the rise of fusion and renewables? We’ll also spotlight the key players leading the fusion revolution, including ITER, private companies like Lockheed Martin, and cutting-edge innovators like Gaust Fusion. Join us on this fascinating journey as we uncover the possibilities and limitations of nuclear fusion and explore its potential to reshape our future.
