  • 30: For He wrote of Me (John 5:46)
    2025/06/16

    John 5:46
    “For if you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote of me”

    Jesus makes two important points in this short verse, using something the Jews cherished - the Old Testament. Jesus highlights the teachings of Moses, who spoke about Jesus as the coming Messiah, and uses this to question the Jewish leaders’ true belief in the scripture. Jesus is affirming how important the text is! God speaks to us through the text. It also causes us to wrestle with what we truly believe. Are we practicing what we believe?

  • 29: Speaking from the Mercy Seat Covered by the Cherubim (Exodus 25:22)
    2025/06/09

    God’s mercy seat, the place of atonement, that is the place where God speaks to Moses. It is covered by the Cherubim. The Cherubim protect the holiness of God. And it is out of God’s holiness, from the atoning seat, the atonement, there God speaks to Moses. And there God speaks to us.

    Exodus 25:22

    There I will meet with you, and from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubim that are on the ark of the testimony, I will speak with you about all that I will give you in commandment for the people of Israel.

  • 28: Do You Want to Get Well? (John 5:6)
    2025/06/02

    Jesus seems to seek this man out, the invalid of 38 years, and asks him what seems to be a simple question for his condition, “do you want to get well?”. He answers in a roundabout way that doesn't answer Jesus's question. God wants things for us and we just need to hear Him and answer Him directly. We need to trust and obey, knowing that God has so much greater for us than we could ever imagine. What does that look like for you?

    John 5:6

    6 “Do you want to get well?”

  • 27: Like a Weaned Child (Psalm 131:2)
    2025/05/26

    This Psalm of Assent shows David learning to wait. He is not crying out for whatever need is in front of him. Rather, he has learned to trust and wait for God to supply his need. This is just like a child who learns to wait for meal time when he or she is a little hungry.

    Psalm 131:2

    2 But I have calmed and quieted my soul,

    like a weaned child with its mother;

    like a weaned child is my soul within me.

  • 26: Oh When Will You Come to Me (Psalm 101:2)
    2025/05/19

    David desires to be close to God. He then sets out his activities, which are efforts to open himself to God and prepare the way for God to come to him. He wants God’s presence. He prepares himself and sets about being obedient. Then he waits for God, just as we should wait for God.

    Psalm 101:2

    2 I will ponder the way that is blameless.

    Oh when will you come to me?

    I will walk with integrity of heart

    within my house;

  • 24: The Lord Opened Her Heart (Acts 16:14)
    2025/05/05

    In Acts 16:14, we meet Lydia—a successful businesswoman and the first recorded Christ-follower in Europe. But what led to her transformation? It wasn’t her good character or accomplishments that saved her. While Lydia was a worshiper of God and a woman of integrity, Scripture clearly shows that it was the Lord who opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message. Our role is simply to respond with faith and obedience when He calls. In this episode, we explore Lydia’s story and what it teaches us about God’s grace, the mystery of divine initiative, and how we can stay responsive to His voice in our own lives. Join us as we unpack this beautiful example of God reaching hearts across cultures and continents.

    Acts 16:14
    14 One who heard us was a woman named Lydia, from the city of Thyatira, a seller of purple goods, who was a worshiper of God. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.

  • 23: A Spring of Water Welling Up to Eternal Life (John 4:13-14)
    2025/04/28

    In John 4:13-14, Jesus speaks truth to the Samaritan woman at the well: “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give will never thirst.” He offers something far greater than physical water—He offers a divine gift. Unlike the temporary satisfaction the world offers, Jesus gives us a spring of living water that never runs dry.

    In this episode, we explore the meaning behind Jesus' words and how they reveal the greater gift He brings, greater than the gift of the well that Jacob brought, and greater than all the other gifts the world around us can offer. Jesus offers an artisan well, one that is overflowing—Jesus is the source of true fulfillment.
