Hearing God in Scripture

著者: Austin and Joel
  • サマリー

  • The title of our podcast is pretty straightforward. We are looking to hear God in Scripture. We believe proper hermeneutics is rare, that is, the ability to properly read the Bible is not commonly known or practiced. We believers are commanded to know and study the Scriptures. We should also study to properly understand what they say. These Scriptures are God’s words to us. God spoke to us. Now we need to read them right. Not only did God speak, He still speaks. We shouldn’t just read the Scripture to pull it apart and examine it, we should be listening to God, listening for His voice as we read the text. Our hermeneutic is, “the Text is the Master”. We submit to the text. We do not have the right to twist it around to make it say what we want it to say. Rather, we discover what God is saying to us through His Word. Then we submit to whatever He says. So, hear God in the Scriptures. That is what we are trying to do and we invite you to do this with us.

  • 22: If You Knew the Gift (John 4:10)
    2025/04/21

In John 4:10, Jesus speaks to the Samaritan woman at the well and reveals a truth that still echoes today: “If you knew the gift of God...” She didn’t realize who she was speaking with, or the life-changing gift He was offering — Living Water. How often do we miss divine moments because we don’t recognize who’s before us? Jesus stands ready to give us more than we ask — not just physical sustenance, but eternal life, peace, and purpose. Are we truly aware of the One who seeks a relationship with us? This verse challenges us to open our eyes and hearts to the gift of God and to recognize the presence of Jesus in our everyday lives.

    John 4:10

10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.”

  • 20: Delighting In God’s Word (Psalm 1:1-2)
    2025/04/10

In Psalm 1:1-2, God presents us with a choice: Will we let His Word guide our thinking, or will we allow other influences to shape our minds? The decision we make has a profound impact on our happiness and overall well-being. In this video, we explore how the source of our thoughts determines our peace, joy, and contentment.

God offers us a clear path to happiness through His Word, but it's up to us to choose whether we'll let it lead our lives or be swayed by the world around us. We’ll discuss the importance of aligning our thoughts with God’s truth and how doing so can transform our lives.

How can we overcome distractions and stand firm in the wisdom of Scripture? How do we make God’s Word our primary influence in a world full of competing voices? This video will inspire you to take control of your thoughts and choose God's Word as the foundation for lasting happiness.

    Psalm 1:1-2

    1 Blessed is the man

who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,

nor stands in the way of sinners,

    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;

2 but his delight is in the law of the LORD,

and on his law he meditates day and night.
