Liverpool maintained their position at the summit with a thrilling 6-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur, showcasing their attacking prowess.  Manchester United’s woes deepened as they suffered a defeat to Bournemouth, leaving them in the bottom half of the table during the Christmas period for the first time since 1989.  Chelsea played to a goalless draw with Everton, missing the chance to close the gap on the league leaders.  These results have significantly impacted the league standings as the season approaches its midway point.
