In Premier League Gameweek 17 of the 2024/2025 season, several notable matches unfolded. Manchester City’s struggles persisted with a 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa, marking only one win in their last twelve matches.  Arsenal secured a commanding 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace, with goals from Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz, a well needed win. Liverpool maintained their position at the summit with a thrilling 6-3 win against Tottenham Hotspur, showcasing their attacking prowess.  Manchester United’s woes deepened as they suffered a defeat to Bournemouth, leaving them in the bottom half of the table during the Christmas period for the first time since 1989.  Chelsea played to a goalless draw with Everton, missing the chance to close the gap on the league leaders.  These results have significantly impacted the league standings as the season approaches its midway point.
