"Animal Farm", a fairy story, is a short novel by George Orwell. It describes a farm where animals revolt, take over and drive out men. Bogens første del er en af Orwells mest berømte reportager fra hans ophold blandt kulminearbejdere i Nordengland i vinteren 1936. I sin usædvanligt klare og enkle stil beskriver han minearbejdernes hårde arbejde, den usle løn og de elendige boligforhold, som han også prøvede på egen krop.
