...or What it Means To Be An Involved Dad.

Today, Anthony.Emeka chats with two millennial fathers, Chandy, a Manager at Deloitte in Burlington, Canada and Calvin, a Senior Advisor to the President of Howard University in Washington, D.C. about the evolution of fatherhood.

    2021/04/27

...or Our Time Is Now: A Discussion.

The entire world was watching the 2020 presidential election unfold in Georgia. The reason for the new interest, and the fact that it was now competitive for Democrats, came down to one person- Stacey Abrams.

To understand how Stacey Abrams took her stinging 2018 loss for Governor and leveraged the energy of her campaign to turn Georgia blue in 2020, is the topic of her incredible book Our Time Is Now. Our book club discussed the various topics raised in her work from voting rights and voter suppression to proposed solutions. This is our conversation.

  • 31. Why Do They Hate Us So Much?...
    2021/04/20

    ...or When Will It End?

To say the past few weeks have been a rollercoaster would be an understatement. The U.S. continues to flaunt all of the makings of a sh*tshow. More mass shootings. More police killings. More racial discrimination. More overt hate.

This week, Anthony.Emeka had an unexpected conversation with book club members about the current state of affairs. Before discussing the important Our Time is Now by Stacey Abrams, they had a mental check-in that spoke volumes about their shared experience.

  • 30. America From Abroad…
    2021/04/14

...or What Non-Americans Think of the United States.

American “greatness” is imported to every corner of the world. (Economic) opportunity, Hollywood, technology, amongst other things. Relatedly, the U.S. also exports unflattering qualities- economic inequality, racial and sexual discrimination, and gun violence, to name a few.

Today, I talk with some of my personal confidants who live outside America’s borders to understand how others see “The Land of the Free.” We talk shop about parental leave, differences in healthcare, and, of course, American’s winning ingredient- gun violence, amongst other topics. Perspectives come from France, Great Britain, and Canada.
