Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning is over the top, with its rapid-fire storytelling and explosive action scenes. But let's be real, it suffers from a major case of predictability, which is its biggest flaw. Compared to other films in the M:I series, this one is probably the least memorable when it comes to plot twists, possibly sharing that title with Mission: Impossible 2. After the thrilling narrative of Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning, this final installment feels a bit lacking. Plenty of scenes don’t take any real risks, recycling familiar tropes like the gala that turns into a prison before we even get to see the event itself—where are the flashy cars, extravagant outfits, and lively dances? As for the action, it feels like a step back from Mission: Impossible - Fallout, with many sequences feeling either limited or unnecessary. https://listen.hubhopper.com/episode/one-of-best-action-movies-thunderbolts-marvel-2025/32881716 https://shows.podcastle.ai/flixtor-tor-streaming-website-0GxtKzPr/thunderbolts-really-hits-hard-when-you-are-marvel-fan-Wgt6ccbW https://castbox.fm/episode/Thunderbolts---Setup-for-the-future-of-Avengers-id4979377-id807806387?country=us https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/elizabethlailny/episodes/2025-05-14T09_42_37-07_00 https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/yesmoviessonline/episodes/2025-05-14T09_44_28-07_00 The underwater scene, however, is a standout moment, showcasing some truly original filmmaking that elevates the film significantly. That 20-minute submarine sequence is arguably the most inventive action scene since the iconic aqua cafe moment from the original 1996 film, where Ethan faces off against Kittredge, directed masterfully by Brian De Palma. The tension as Ethan navigates those underwater challenges is incredibly engaging, with a level of realism that adds to the experience. The film also does a great job of showcasing diversity without making it feel forced. Hannah Waddingham as the aircraft carrier commander was a fantastic choice, though I wasn’t a fan of the character with the unfortunate hairstyle in the submarine. Angela Bassett naturally embodied the role of president without trying to adopt a masculine persona.
