The Order of the Solar Temple was a secretive and controversial religious group founded in the 1980s, blending elements of Christianity, New Age beliefs, and Freemasonry. The group, led by Joseph Di Mambro and Luc Jouret, promoted a doctrine focused on the idea of achieving spiritual enlightenment and preparing for a cosmic transformation. In 1994 and 1995, a series of mass suicides and murders occurred in Switzerland and Canada, resulting in the deaths of over 70 members.
