- Consubstantiation (Lutheranism): The substances both of the body and blood of Christ and of the bread and the wine coexist in union with each other.
- Spiritual Presence (Reformed): Christ is spiritually present in the elements.
- Memorial (Anabaptist): The elements are purely symbolic.
