Today, I sat down with this week’s CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week, Paige Melton, a sophomore guard for the Augustana Women’s Basketball Team. We recapped Saturday’s game at North Central and discussed Coach Beinborn’s “in-the-moment” coaching style. Paige shared insights into the physical demands of her increased workload this season, highlighted by her career-high 31-point performance against Elmhurst. Growing up locally in Moline, she reflected on transitioning from competing against former rivals to teaming up with them and even reminisced about her track and field days at Moline High School. She also revealed her plans for the holiday break, her favorite Christmas movie, and her all-time favorite Christmas gift growing up. To wrap up, we previewed Saturday’s home doubleheader as the Vikings take on Carthage, with the women’s game at 2 PM and the men’s game at 4:15 PM. Don’t miss it!

Today, I sat down with Emma Berg, senior and captain of the Augustana Women’s Basketball Team. Emma shared what drew her to Augustana, her plans after graduation, and how the current 6-game home stretch has strengthened team chemistry.

We also discussed her leadership style and reflected on her impressive career milestones. Emma is on track to finish 11th all-time in games played and is closing in on 2nd place for career 3-pointers made. She reminisced about memorable moments from her time on the team, her family’s Thanksgiving traditions, and her favorite holiday movies. We even get to hear about her working on her shooting form using an oven mitt!
