  • Ep. 14: Osito
    2025/07/20

Hiya! My name's Terry J. Aman and in this, my 14th episode of VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack titled "Osito," I dive into and celebrate the World Music entries in my collection, along with artists in my collection beginning with the letter K.

My Title Track "Osito" is from the past three years or so I've been listening to Spanish artist by way most recently of Mexico, Benjamin Koll (channel: https://bit.ly/4627Hys) a creative force going back to Madrid in the '90s. I have five of his LPs in my collection. The half-year delay in this episode was a scheduling issue; if I could wait til July, he'd be DJ'ing an event eight hours up the road from me and ... I just so craved this opportunity to meet with him in person I erred on the side of delaying this production so as to make that happen. In all reality [looks back at the last seven episodes of big sister production, VideoFuzzy] I had plenty to do in the meantime.

Along with our conversation, my Influences [full LPs/World Music] for this set under world music included Benjamin Koll's "Songs for a Better Future" from 2017, "All Systems Go" from 2020, "Once in a Lifetime" from 2021, "Osito" from 2022 and "8 Days in a Bear's Life" from 2023, with a peek at a release he has slated for this fall, very exciting. Also, Kashtin's "Akua Tuta" from 1994, Kukuruza's "Crossing Borders" from 1993 (Kukuruza "Porushka Poranya" - https://bit.ly/4621YbX), and Twelve Girls Band "Eastern Energy" from 2004 (https://bit.ly/46uwWcQ). Also, Robbie Robertson and The Red Road Ensemble's "Songs for The Native Americans" from 1994.

In Influences [full LPs/standard] for this set, K artists with full LPs in my collection, I talk about Kate Bush "The Whole Story" from 1986 (Kate Bush "Wuthering Heights" https://bit.ly/46Aoitl and https://bit.ly/40END1q), Kiss' "The Very Best of Kiss" from 2002, which I chat about with my friend Jason Lund from high school, who I'd say was a solid influence on my musical interests at a formative time.

In Breakouts, artists with multiple songs in my collection, world music edition, I have multiple songs each by Shakira and Falco. Standard collection, I have multiple entries from Kesha, Kansas, Korn, k.d. lang, Keith Forsey and Kim Richey.

In Sparks, artists with one song in my collection, standard edition, I have songs by K7, KT Tunstall, Kim Wilde ("Keep Me Hanging On" https://bit.ly/40dBErw), Katy Perry, Kendall Kelly, Kelly Clarkson and Karla Devito.

In Sparks, world music edition, I talk about songs by STi, Las Ketchup, Saez, Tommy Heavenly 6, The Mars Volta and Vitek or Origa ("Inner Universe" https://bit.ly/4eLpzQt), along with an overview on world music generally.

As always, any "music" or "singing" anyone thought they heard in this tiny indie podcast -- especially this one -- was simple sketch reference included for illustrative purposes to prompt listeners to track down and explore commercially available music through officially licensed sources and is by no means meant to infringe on anyone's copyright, licensing or distribution agreements. Go forth, buy songs and support the artists you love.

  • Ep. 13: Can U See Me in the Dark?
    2024/11/24

Hiya! My name's Terry J. Aman and in this, my 13th episode of VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack titled "Can U See Me in the Dark?" I celebrate two years of this project with a look back on LP's, songs and artists I've added to my music collection since I started doing this.

My title track "Can U See Me in the Dark?" is a high-drama collaboration by Halestorm and I Prevail that I encountered on my way back from auditioning for my current production, "A Dickens' Christmas Carol" with Dakota Stage Ltd, running Dec. 5-15, information at Dakota Stage Ltd at https://dakotastage.org/

In Influences, artists with full LPs in my collection, I talk about Beyonce's "Cowboy Carter" and "Lemonade," I Prevail's "Trauma" and "True Power," Dolly Parton's "Rockstar" and The Cure's "Songs from a Lost World." Also, I found a copy of Brenda Weiler's "End the Rain" online and ordered it.

In Breakouts, artists with multiple songs in my collection, I added EP "Atmosphere" by Brother Saturn and single "Y2K" by chromadrift, a/k/a Colorado DJ and artist Drew Brady, who posts occasional tracks on his Instagram as midibehr. Also, entries from Tim Blais' A Capella Science and Chapelle Roan.

And in Sparks, other artists with one song in my collection, I added songs by Eminem, ABC, David Bowie, Elton John, Bat For Lashes, Dasha, Dua Lipa, The Bloodhound Gang, Christine Perri, Hozier, Ed Sheeran, Bearforce1 at https://bit.ly/3YQvKLt, Donna Summer, Billy Squiers, Imminence and The Bravery.

  • Ep. 12: Hiding Behind the Moon
    2024/08/05

Hiya! My name's Terry J. Aman and in this, my 12th episode of VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack titled "Hiding Behind the Moon," I focus on artists in my music collection whose names begin with the letter J.

My title track takes me in a different direction for this set. Straight out the gate, I highlight the late Jeff Hanson's "Hiding Behind the Moon" is only in my collection in the first place because I heard it in a first season episode of "Nip/Tuck."

And so many songs by J-named artists trace their pathway into my collection by way of soundtracks and other media engagement I decided to lead with my Sparks entries, because with a few exceptions, most of them are by artists with one song in my collection. Apart from Jeff Hanson, this list includes Jace Everett, Jack White and Alicia Keys, Janet Seidel, Jem, Joshua Henry, John C. Reilly, Joe Purdy, Joyce Kennedy, Julia Migenes, Jan August, Jack Johnson and Jared Halley.

In Influences, artists with full LPs in my collection, I talk about Jefferson Airplane's "Surrealistic Pillow," Joss Stone's "The Soul Sessions," Jewel's "Pieces of You" and "Spirit" and Joan Osborne's "Relish."

In Breakouts, artists with multiple songs in my collection, I talk about finding a couple Journey tracks in my collection I know were taped off the radio back in the 1980s, some of the most Gen X music I own. Also, more from Joshua Henry and Jared Halley and songs by Jason Mraz.

And in a second pass at Sparks, other artists with one song in my collection, I Have Jay-Z's collaboration with Linkin Park, Jethro Tull, Jesus Jones, Johnny Cash, John Lennon and John Denver, Janis Ian, Johnny Rivers and Joss Whedon.

As always, any "music" or "singing" anyone thought they heard in this tiny indie podcast was simple sketch reference included for illustrative purposes to prompt listeners to track down and explore commercially available music through officially licensed sources and is by no means meant to infringe on anyone's copyright, licensing or distribution agreements. • Ep. 11: Relics of Things Past
    2024/06/19

Hiya! My name's Terry J. Aman and in this, my 11th episode of VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack titled "Relics of Things Past," it's my second installment of artists in my music collection whose names begin with the letter I.

Yup, "Ep. 10: Caramia" focused on the 80+ songs in my collection by The Indigo Girls. Part 2 of the I's starts out with an interview with a college friend of mine, Mark Leonard Mason, and he talked to me about a band he was in at the time called Ice Nine. Since conducting and editing that interview, I received the tragic news that Mark lost his life in a car accident. I added some words ahead of the interview and beyond it to reflect our loss.

Under Influences [full LPs] I talk about Inspiral Carpets, Incubus and Ibeyi. Under Breakouts [multiple tracks] I talk about Iggy Pop and INXS. And under Sparks [single tracks] I talk about Ice Cube, Inara George and Information Society.

Pics in VideoFuzzy's Instagram of Ice Nine cassette and CD artwork, Mark Leonard Mason from the '90s, and screencaps from Ibeyi's performance of "Deathless" from their 2017 release "Ash" on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in March of 2018.

Go forth, buy songs and support the artists you love.

  • PROMO: Ep. 11: Relics of Things Past
    2024/06/15

Hiya! I'm Terry J. Aman, host of VideoFuzzy the Soundtrack, and in "Ep. 11: Relics of Things Past," I share my interview with Mark Leonard Mason of the Grand Forks, North Dakota, band Ice Nine who tragically we learned lost his life shortly after I spoke with him. The interview reflected his humor and passion and I have included as much of it as I could. His friend and former bandmate Eric Fundingsland shared a link to Ice Nine's final concert on bandcamp, and that link is in my show notes along with his other projects and web presence. Plus comments on Inspiral Carpets, Incubus, Ibeyi, Ice Cube, INXS, Iggy Pop and Information Society.
