このコンテンツについて

Welcome to Uncommon Courage, the podcast, where we’ll be having the conversations we need to be having as members of the human collective. We are all being called upon to step up and lead – with kindness, big hearts and unshakable courage – because right now, we have an opportunity to redress what we got wrong in the past, as well as deal with the disruptions we face today, to create a better world for all.

However, if we are completely truthful, the biggest challenge we face is believing we can do it – believing in our ability to create massive change. But everyone knows you can’t achieve anything significant without guts, determination, and of course, the courage to keep driving towards the goal, regardless of how hard the journey is!

Uncommon Courage will feature global conversations determined to contribute to creating a better future for all life on earth. Ideas, solutions, arguments and laughs - it’ll all be part of the journey. It is time for that which is uncommon to become common.

  • Climate Courage: getting past powerlessness
    2025/05/23

When we speak to people about the planetary crisis, the most common response is a feeling of powerlessness. Many tell us they don’t know what to do or where to start, which often means not doing anything at all, and this just adds to the feeling of powerlessness. This is a growing challenge across the world, as more and more people become aware of the crisis we are in - from Taree in Australia facing catastrophic flooding, to millions suffering unliveable heat in India, Pakistan and Iran, to extreme heat events in Iceland, or across to Brazil where more floods have destroyed crops which will ripple out and have a major impact across the globe.

In the face of so many extreme weather events, it’s hard not to feel hopeless and powerless. But there is much we can all do, and the middle class claiming our power in this time of geopolitical chaos is probably the best way to help our mental health and the planet. Whatever we feel about the future of our species, it’s time we try with all our might to overcome - for our families and all life on earth. However, we must also acknowledge the severity of the challenges we face. We do not have an easy journey ahead, so developing our resilience is critical.

This is how we will start the show, with clear actions and questions we should be asking ourselves, and then we will discuss the major news around all aspects of the planetary crisis, including, but not limited to, the latest on the AMOC, the fact 1.5°C of warming is already too hot for the polar ice caps, global oil demand – is it increasing or decreasing?, Planetary Nationalism and why that might not be a great idea, the catastrophic tornados in the US including a lack of FEMA support, food security and more.

We always aim to cover a lot and never make it through all the news, but we give it a go, so why not come and join us, Friday 23rd May – 8am UK, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 6pm AEST – and work out your steps, so you can stop feeling powerless.

Climate Courage is a livestream, held every two weeks and is co-hosted by Andrea T Edwards, Dr. David Ko and Richard Busellato. On the show, we cover critical topics across the full spectrum of the polycrisis, in everyday language, and we go big picture on the climate crisis, while also drilling down and focusing on the actions we can all take to be part of the solution. Whether individual action, community action, or national/global action - every single one of us can be part of ensuring a live-able future for our children and grandchildren. We owe them that!

  • The Know Show – the golden age of hypocrisy
    2025/05/16

Are you guffawing a lot at the news these days? The hypocrisy of it all? Whether it’s the “gift” of a $400 million luxury plane to Donald Trump (which will cost $1 billion to get off the ground), the idea of white Afrikaners as refugees, or even the Pope’s style of Christianity too woke according to MAGA, there’s definitely a lot to guffaw at these days. The hypocrisy is quite stunning, so what are we to make of it all? Is it good for the world, or is it the beginning of a new and confusing dark age?

Meanwhile, Trump and the CEOs of America’s most prominent companies are signing major deals in the Middle East, mainly in defense, aviation, energy, mining and artificial intelligence, sanctions on Syria have been lifted, Netanyahu is out in the cold (or is he) and deep sea mining is going to happen in order to counter China’s mineral dominance – a “deep sea gold rush” is on the way – but at what cost to life on earth?

Beyond the US and the shenanigans happening on a daily basis, Africa is being hit extremely hard by climate change, children born in 2020 will face 'unprecedented lifetime exposure' to climate extremes, extreme weather events in Australia (only two events) will cost insurers nearly $1 billion so far in 2025, Putin isn’t going to Turkey for peace talks, and bombs continue to fall on women and children in Gaza. There’s a lot to take on board, so come and join us, Friday 16th May, 8am UK, 2pm TH, 3pm SG and 6pm AEST.

To help us this week, we have Rebecca Downie joining us. Rebecca is passionate about the news and world affairs, and professionally is a personal branding photographer, the go-to photographer for entrepreneurs who are the face of their brand, a professional speaker, personal branding expert, as well as leader of The Athena Network Singapore, a professional networking community for female professionals. She is a great addition to our show and we’re thrilled she said yes.

The Know Show is a Livestream held every fortnight on Friday, where Andrea T Edwards, Tim Wade and Joe Augustin, and at least one special guest, review the news that’s getting everyone’s attention, as well as perhaps what requires our attention. We’ll talk about what it means to us, the world and we hope to inspire great conversations on the news that matters in the world today.

The Know Show is based on Andrea T Edwards Weekend Reads, which are published every Saturday on andreatedwards.com, and covers the planetary crisis, topical moments in the world, global politics and war, business and technology, social issues, and passion/humour/history. Join us.

  • Climate Courage: the outback floods a month later
    2025/05/09

It was more than a month ago when outback Australia was swamped by floods, experiencing a years’ worth of rain in a week, which not only devastated lives and livelihoods, it devastated livestock as well. The floods were bigger than the size of Texas and to this day, locals are still waiting for the water to drain away completely. What were the final numbers of livestock lost? What was the impact and cost? How are local people feeling about this event and the future?

We’ll get to the bottom of that, as well as other major news on climate from around the world, including new information on the AMOC, some promising news from Antarctica (or is it?), the farmers in the UK have raised the alarm on crops, Tony Blair putting his foot in it, extreme heat events, a significant decline in bird numbers reported in the US and what it means, we’ll delve into Overshoot following Nate Hagens definition, the war between India and Pakistan because our world can not afford war, especially at this fragile moment for our world, and so much more. As always, there’s a lot to discuss, so come and join us, 9th May, 8am UK, 2pm TH, 3pm SG, 5pm AEST.

To help us dig into the conversation, we are delighted to have Heather Cameron joining us from the outback of Australia. Hailing from Gunderbooka near Bourke in New South Wales, she’s a born and bred outback gal, but today, is running her own country retreat, so everyone can enjoy the peace of Australia’s stunning nature. The Lower Lila retreat is 64,000 acres, grazing sheep, cattle, and goats, and has a carbon project to conserve areas of native bush lands for future generations to come. But she’s doing more than that, Heather is a credentialed practitioner of coaching, while also studying to become a master practitioner of coaching, and she is also author of ‘Never Underestimate a Woman’ with book three in the series coming out soon.
