The Looking for a Third Podcast

  • Ok... it won't be the last time we say this, but it's best said up front. IT'S NOT THAT TYPE OF LOOKING FOR A THIRD YOU HORNY TOAD!

Two like able idiots, Tanya Chainey and Rodney Beckford talk to ordinary every day people about their interests, passions and pastimes. The conversation is always interesting, enlightening and lively, however it's tinged with a hint of irreverence, silliness and good humour. It is after all the only level that these two non-rocket scientist can operate at.

The guest is the third the pair have been looking for to appear on the show. It's hoped that with some gentle probing and a little rib tickling, guest gets to open up to our hosts and the audience to give a little insight into a subject they themselves are inthralled by. The show is not setting out to educate or enlighten anyone and if that happens you've only got yourselves to blame. You can't blame us, we've got paper work to prove we've idiots. Know that should you learn anything from any of the episodes, it's by accident and not by design and it's your own fault for paying attention.

It's comedy and entertainment people! And yes some people my say it's other wise, but that's what they've set out to do. Plus, if it's written down here now, it might stand up in a court of law later down the line when these two idiots eventually cause an international incident, and have to appeal to the International Courts of Justice!

Kurt Charnock has taken on some of the toughest running and cycling challenges, and lived to tell the tale.

He sees every challenge as an adventure, yet to us mere mortals they are momentous tasks of endurance, hardship and being so far out of our comfort zone it‘s in a different time zone. The trials and tribulations Kurt has been willing to put himself through, would make members of the armed forces question his sanity. A true adventurer that keeps upping the anti and who travels from John o’Groats to Land's End as a warm up for crossing the North American Continent.

If you’ve thought about taking on a huge physical challenge, and wondered what it takes, this is a great interview with someone who’s been through it and done it on a monumental scale. Kurt talks about the mindset, training, conditioning and other preparations needed to get the job done. It’s a fascinating subject and an enthralling tale of sheer grit, determination and single mindedness.

  • Portsmouth Gin & Chilli Festival
    2024/10/19

The first sunshine of the year saw our hosts Rodney and Tanya out of the studio and on the road, to experience the annual celebration that is the Portsmouth Chilli & Gin Festival.

Located within the old walls of Fort Purbrook just on the outskirts of Portsmouth, the festival drew more than 2000 visitors per day. The grounds were packed with over 40 different vendors, selling and giving away samples of bespoke gin, rum, chilli sauce blends, spreads and pickles. There was also plenty of entertainment, live music and great food trucks and stalls.

Our hosts are in the heart of the action in this extended episode of the festival talking to everyone from security and first aid staff, to the organiser and performers. There’s a real atmospheric vibe and feel to this location episode, along with genuinely, warm and delightful interactions with the festival public and vendors alike. They also say hello to a previous guest and finally get to sample some of their products.

We’ll see if either of them is brave enough to take part in the chilli eating competition and learn a few tricks of the trade in order to go the distance. There are also one or two very good practical tips for how to deal with the aftermath of the rather heated battle!

    Karissa Kwok

Karissa Kwok is going to be a CEO and a titan of business someday if the Law, her chosen area of study doesn’t work out. She’ll be firing the likes of Donald Trump, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, or tying them up in legal knots if they cross her. Karissa has built up a very healthy business selling plushies. Now I know you don’t know what they are, but the kids do and her handmade plushies are in demand. So much so that, let’s just say this young entrepreneur may have to employ some podcast hosts to help pick up the slack in the orders. Plushies are soft, cuddly, tactile crocheted animal toys that make great gifts for children of all ages.

Karissa is the founder of "Classynfancy" a crochet and jewellery business she set up while still at school with the aid of the children’s business fair. Her products can be seen and purchased across social media and are available world wide. At the time of the interview Karissa was preparing for end of year exams for her first year of A’ levels. That’s right… this budding Deborah Meaden is only 17!

Now, I know what I was doing at 17 and it wasn’t turning my parents into board members and setting up shell corporations. Ok I’m getting carried away, but she has made more money than a premier league footballer tips their hair stylist. If she keeps going at this rate, she might be able to acquire X and turn it back into Twitter. She has a head for business and creates the plushies herself, all while studying for A’ levels.
