  • QUESTIONS – The Power To Influence
    2024/12/19

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly talk about the power of using questions to influence people. Kelly has built her business career around asking great questions. It plays out throughout her life. John talks about using questions to influence people regarding embracing think it be it. As an example, sometimes he will ask a person how do you create success in your life. That’s a question they probably haven’t been asked before. And so after a minute or two of stumbling around looking for the right answer, it becomes apparent to both John and the person that they don’t really have a way of creating success in their life.

Then John asks the killer second question. How’s that working for you? John then politely and respectfully gives them the answer. It’s not working out as well as you would like because you’re just winging life. You don’t actually have a way of doing life. When someone asked John how he creates success, he has a pretty clear answer. Your daily actions determine your success in each area of your life. 95% of your daily actions are unconscious. Therefore I gain control over my unconscious daily actions by feeding the succinct articulation of my life to myself each day. That rewires my autopilot. And causes the right actions happen automatically without thinking. And I have a powerful force pulling myself forward to my desired life. John gives another example. Oftentimes he will say that the most significant thing he ever learned in his life is that 95% of a person’s daily actions are unconscious. And so he will ask the question to someone as to whether they believe that or not. More often than not, they say they do believe it.

Then the second killer question. So what are you doing about that? Do you see the profound implications of that? The Takeaway is using questions are profound. In the last half of the episode John and Kelly talk about this idea of deep thinking two times a week. A powerful technique that is part of the think it be it methodology. It’s a three-step process. The first step is just sit down and write in your thinking tablet anything that comes up for the first 10 minutes or so. Then the second step. Figure out a question to ask yourself. Usually regarding what your biggest challenge at the moment is. Then the third step is to recap what you learned and defined the action steps. John and Kelly discuss in the think it be it methodology this ongoing dance between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind. The deep thinking technique two times a week is influencing the conscious mind. Then the daily reading of one’s visualization is impacting the subconscious mind.

    About the Hosts:

    John Mitchell

John’s story is pretty amazing. After spending 20 years as an entrepreneur, John was 50 years old but wasn’t as successful as he thought he should be. To rectify that, he decided to find the “top book in the world” on SUCCESS and apply that book literally Word for Word to his life. That Book is Think & Grow Rich. The book says there’s a SECRET for success, but the author only gives you half the secret. John figured out the full secret and a 12 minute a day technique to apply it.

When John applied his 12 minute a day technique to his life, he saw his yearly income go to over $5 million a year, after 20 years of $200k - 300k per year. The 25 times increase happened because John LEVERAGED himself by applying science to his life.

His daily technique works because it focuses you ONLY on what moves the needle, triples your discipline, and consistently generates new business ideas every week. This happens because of 3 key aspects of the leveraging process.

John’s technique was profiled on the cover of Time Magazine. He teaches it at the University of Texas’ McCombs School of Business, which is one the TOP 5 business schools in the country. He is also the “mental coach” for the head athletic coaches

  • The Power Of Knowing Your DISC Profile – As Well As Your Spouse’s
    2024/12/12

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly talk about the most significant things they’ve learned this year. For Kelly, it was reaffirming her resilience. For John, it was learning the disc profile. Understanding that he is a D. He’s an action taker and does things fast and is focused on tasks. Whereas John’s precious wife Ginger is a C. She does things slow and is a perfectionist. Also focused on tasks. This has been powerful in John’s life to understand this because we all have a natural tendency to think that people who don’t see things the way that we see them are simply wrong or inferior. Not so. They’re just processing information differently. Appreciating this subtle difference is powerful.

And so the takeaway lesson is take the disc profile and understand the personality type you are and the personality type your spouse is. And understand your weaknesses so that you can compensate for them. During this podcast John also talks about the things he learned from his class at the University of Texas. So many interesting things. Most people didn’t realize they are WIRED FOR SURVIVAL. And the effect of that is that 75% of their thoughts are fear-based and they’re reactive rather than proactive on their important agenda.

The other big thing they learned is that 95% OF THEIR DAILY ACTIONS ARE UNCONSCIOUS. And one’s daily actions determine your success in each area of your life. And as John points out to them, the think it be it 12 minute a day technique is an actual way of doing life. And what could be a better way of doing life than applying the central concept of the top book in the world on success to your life. The bottom line, it gives you an edge in life.

  • Turning Being “More Enlightened” Into Who You Are
    2024/12/05

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly talk about as we get older, we tend to become more enlightened. John gives two examples. A few years ago he noticed that the only time he ever really lost his temper was at technology. And he would get angry out loud. Then he stepped back from that and realized – what good does that do. It only made him more stressed. So he decided to change that. And he put that enlightenment in his daily visualization. Well immediately, that stopped. Because he trained his subconscious mind to not get angry out loud.

Another example John had is this. It’s in driving. Not long ago John became aware of the disc profile. And how there’s four different distinct personality types. Which one you are is a function of do you do things fast or do you do them slow. And whether you’re people oriented or task oriented. John is a D. He does things fast and is task oriented. As an example, his wife Ginger is a C. She basically a perfectionist. Does things slow and is task oriented. As all this relates to driving, John noticed that in the past he would get frustrated at people that were going slow. Especially if he was on a 2 Lane Rd. and he couldn’t pass them. Then from becoming more enlightened he’s like okay that person that’s going slow is just a different personality type than he is. They have a right to go slow just like John feels like he has a right to go fast. And he learned with regards to patients to see who has control and when he doesn’t have control, just lean into patience. He then put that in his visualization. And immediately he became a much more patient driver.

Kelly then mentions a great Mel Robbins podcast on communication. The essence of the podcast is what you say is who you are. You compress your personality into what you say. And during the podcast they talk about some great communication tips. As an example, if someone ever insult you, make them repeat it. Go, what did you say? Would you repeat that? You are delaying their gratification. Flipping it back on them. You take the fun out of the insult for them.

Another tip is if you ever have to give bad news. You want to say what you need to say immediately. Jump right in. Whatever you’re trying to craft the exact right words when you’re giving someone bad news, it’s agonizing for the other person. Don’t inch by inch it. Get right into the bad news. And tell them you’re being straight with them because you know they can handle the truth. Another tip is to have a standard way of answering how are you. And maybe pause before you answer. This conveys to the other person that you really are giving them a thoughtful answer. And of course using the think it be it methodology, you can easily incorporate these communication tips into your visualization so they show up automatically without thinking.

  • The Mind Thrives on Order
    2024/11/28

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly explain that the mind thrives on order. And when you feed the succinct articulation of your life to yourself each day you create immense order in the mind. And as Kelly points out, it makes you feel lighter. It causes all those half thoughts that are going on in your head to either go away or become full thoughts. To drive home this idea that the mind thrives on order, John points out that’s why you enjoy music. A few years back, John learned how to play blues guitar. And in the process of doing so, he learned the timing in music. So in this podcast, he plays the song Billie Jean by Michael Jackson. Explains the timing and then counts it. This is a vivid example of how the mind thrives on order. To wrap things up, John makes a point of how one’s success in life as well as one’s enjoyment of life comes down to the thoughts that are going on in your head on an ongoing basis. So simple but many people don’t get this. But for the few that do, it’s life-changing. The think it be it methodology influences the creation of your thoughts.

  • Think It Be It Methodology – 5 Principles Made SIMPLE
    2024/11/21

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John and Kelly explain the think it be it methodology. They make the five core principles profoundly simple. It starts with what determines your success. It’s your daily actions. That’s it. The cumulative effect of your daily actions determine your success in each area of your life. Then the second principle. The significance of 95% of your daily actions being unconscious. If your daily actions determine your success, and 95% of your daily actions are unconscious, if you don’t gain control over those unconscious daily actions, you play the game life at 5% of your potential. It should be so obvious that your subconscious mind rules your life as well as how you feel about yourself.

Then the third principle. Conscious mind versus unconscious mind. Conscious mind sets the intention and is influenced by logic. Subconscious mind controls your everyday actions and ongoing thoughts. Influenced only by repetition. The classic example is losing weight. Conscious mind sets the intention to lose weight based on logic of the health benefits. But people often times fail to lose weight not from lack of intention. But rather from not influencing the part of them that controls their daily actions of exercising and controlling what they eat. The subconscious mind. The fourth principle is the impact of being wired for survival. It’s three things. 75% of your thoughts are fear-based, your reactive rather than proactive on your important agenda. And you're profoundly resistant to change. If you do nothing in your morning routine to override being wired for survival, you live your life fear-based and reactive.

The 12 minute a day morning routine overrides your innate programming. Instead of having an antiquated operating system gearing your life to be fear-based and reactive, let’s install the 21st century operating system the wires you to be productive, creative and happy. But you have to put in the software every day. Takes 12 minutes a day. Then the last concept. Your subconscious mind is either your greatest asset or your greatest nemesis. Since 95% of your daily thoughts and actions are unconscious, obviously if you gain control over that it’s your greatest asset. Alternatively, if you don’t and you allow yourself to continue being geared toward survival, meaning the vast majority of your thoughts are fear-based and your reactive rather than proactive on your important agenda. And you're highly resistant to change, it’s clearly your greatest nemesis.

  • Life Lessons : What the Current Kelly Hatfield Would Say to the 20 Year Old Version of Herself Regarding Creating Success
    2024/11/14

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, Kelly explains what she would tell the 20 year old version of herself regarding how to be successful. She starts out talking about the immense power of being a grower and a learner from a young age. Her dad turned her on to reading when she was 13 years old. And that’s where she got it. And it played a significant factor in her life. Approaching life from a curiosity standpoint and learning whatever she could. In seeking people with wisdom beyond her own wisdom. That has been the hallmark trait of Kelly Hatfield. The other advice she would give the 20-year-old version of herself is to understand how the human mind works. When John taught Kelly the think it be it methodology when she was 44 years old, it was life transforming.

The key thing she learned was that 95% of her daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. Once you really think about it and appreciate the profound implications, your life is never the same. John and Kelly talk about how lots of people understand this at a surface level. But do nothing about it. But those that really get it, and see its implications, are all about learning think it be it. During this episode John talks about the impact of the think it be it methodology has on one’s identity. He talks about how we are all created haphazardly. Things have happened in our life that were both good and bad that has created good traits and bad traits. And we were raised by our parents in a certain way. But virtually none of it was intentional.

Even how our parents raised us was largely unintentional. They just did the best they could. And how we were raised was certainly unintentional from our standpoint. We had nothing to do with it. That’s why it’s so cool to be able to re-create yourself with intention and clarity. Create the IDEAL YOU. Then when you create that in the CONSCIOUS MIND, you feed it every day to the subconscious mind through repetition. Then that identity is who you become. Because that’s when it impacts your thoughts and actions automatically without thinking.

  • Your Subconscious Mind Is Either Your Greatest Asset or It’s Your Greatest Challenge and Nemesis in Life
    2024/11/07

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John welcomes back Steve Prendergast as a guest on today show. It was Steve who came up with a line that your subconscious mind is either your greatest asset or your greatest challenge in life. John and Steve bat that idea around. And John points out that the fact that a person is wired for survival is the biggest thing a person has to overcome. And he makes the analogy using higher forms of life coming to earth. If there was a higher life form that came to our planet and observed our planet, they would observed that human beings are wired for survival. And therefore they are fear-based and reactive.

But in looking at modern society today, it looks like humans have a pretty cushy life. There’s nothing threatening their survival on a daily basis. They all want to be successful and happy. But being fear-based and reactive is exactly the opposite of how they need to be in order to be productive and happy. These enlightened aliens would likely say -well let’s just fix that and let’s go into their DNA and reprogram them. We learned how to do that light years ago. The Takeaway from that story is that you can wait for enlightened beings to come to earth and reprogram you or you can take the responsibility for reprogramming yourself for success right now.

John then goes on to make a key point. The methodology that he has created is an ACTUAL WAY OF DOING LIFE. NOT ANOTHER STRATEGY. But an actual way of doing life. It takes 12 minutes a day. And from what John can see in the success and human achievement field, nobody else is providing that. And from that way of doing life, which takes 12 minutes a day, you override being wired for survival. And you turn your subconscious mind from being your greatest nemesis into being your greatest asset. Giving yourself immense control over yourself.

  • What Are The Life Lessons You Would Give The 20 Yr Old Version of Yourself?
    2024/10/31

In this episode of The Missing Secret Podcast, John shares with the audience something he did with his class at the University of Texas. John had a student play the 20-year-old version of John Mitchell. And John played the current version. John then imparted lessons to the 20-year-old version of himself that would make his life way easier and way more successful earlier. And here’s the essence of what it came down to. WORK SMARTER. But most of us are ingrained to just work harder. Big mistake. But the natural question is how do you work smarter?

At the end of the day, it comes down to understanding HOW THE HUMAN MIND WORKS. And the linchpin issue is that 95% of a person’s daily thoughts and actions are unconscious. Once a person gets the PROFOUND RAMIFICATIONS of that, their life is never the same. The BIG DOMINO DROPS. And here’s why. Your success in life comes down to your DAILY ACTIONS. If 95% your daily actions are unconscious, if you are not gaining control over those unconscious daily actions you’re playing the game of life at 5% of your potential.

And here’s the other key thing that comes from that. YOUR SUBCONSCIOUS MIND CONTROLS YOUR LIFE. It’s either your greatest asset or your greatest nemesis and challenge. Contemplate that for minute. Here’s why that’s the case. We are all innately WIRED FOR SURVIVAL. That causes 75% of our thoughts be fear-based and we’re reactive rather than proactive on our agenda. Therefore if you do nothing to override being wired for survival, you live life fear-based and reactive every day. It’s a horrible way to live. But if you take control of your subconscious mind, and feed the succinct articulation of your life yourself each day, it’s a whole new ballgame. You’ll now wired yourself for success, rather than being wired for survival.

So it’s your choice. Do you want your subconscious mind to be your biggest asset, or do you want it to be your greatest challenge that you have to fight every day. It’s up to you. Controlling your subconscious mind only takes 12 minutes a day.
