Over the weekend, my neighbor came to my 13-year-old and told him they had about 130 bales of hay that needed to be loaded. He told my boy he'd pay him $250 and it would take somewhere around 3 hours.

Jax agreed and off he went.

I knew I had to help him because he's never done anything like that on his own, so as it goes, I end up doing about 50% of the work.

No problem.

That's how I am.

I don't have the patience to be waiting around on people.

We get into hour 6 of our 3 hour job and Jax says, "Dad, let's just finish the rest tomorrow."

I told him I was tired, too, but that we probably just needed to finish what we started.

This is the critical point for most people doing anything in life.....

They get to the hard and tiresome part and quit.

But here's the secret no one will tell you.....

If you're tired, you're only 40% of the way there.

In those moments, that's when you are tested to see if you'll show up and keep your word.

Do the work despite being tired.

Sweaty.

Uninspired.

When we were headed back to the house, Jax looked at me and said, "Dad, I'm glad we got that done. That was a great lesson."

I hope you take it as a good lesson for yourself, too.

Growth is in the hard work.

But you won't grow if you don't power through the tough parts and make it go!

Everybody wants to win.

They want to get ahead and get a leg up.

But they have to do the work.

The year was 2010 and the Dodd Frank Act was passed and my felonious ass could not longer get a job.

I knew how to wash cars.

I knew how to deal drugs.

I knew how to do loans, but I could no longer do it.

I spent the best part of a year working my ass off to learn everything I could.

I didn't make any money.

I was just learning.

After a year had passed, I had created a whole new industry.

Podcasts.

Audiobooks.

Course creation.

Started hosting events and coaching business people.

If you want to do something more, you gotta be willing to do the work.

Get immersed in whatever it is you want in your life.

Crack a book.

Watch a video.

Implement what you learned.

If you want to win fo sho, you gotta do the work...........fo sho!

Most people want to improve their lives.

Ask anyone.

They'll tell you yes.

But when it comes down to it, the truth is the way most people will improve.

If someone is fat, and we're telling them that fat people are sexy, we're lying to them.

The powers that be want us to lie to each other.

That's just one example of how we lie to people.

But the problem is society says, "hey, just lie to everyone."

Skinny girls do this to fat girls.

Why?

Because they're competition if they get skinny.

If you want to improve, accept the truth when it's told to you.

I'm not the best communicator, but I have the best intentions of wanting other people to improve, including myself.

Tell the truth and watch your life and those around you improve.
