    On November the 3rd 1996 Cairns Air Control received a mayday call from a twin engine Piper Aztec aircraft returning from Horn Island. It disappeared off their radar and ditched  4km from the coast off Wangetti Beach. Colin Brooks shares this incredible story of survival and talks in great detail of the moment everything started to go wrong with light plane. Without Colin's heroics that night things would have taken a different turn.

    On July 30 1997 a landslide swept through the centre of Thredbo taking out two chalets. With 19 people missing under the rubble in the isolated ski village,  emergency services certainly had their work cut out for them. Braving the unpredictable rubble sliding further down the hill in pitch black darkness and freezing cold temperatures, this story will be told by Chris Wilkinson, a paramedic who was there with hundreds of other emergency service workers searching for survivors.
