    In this powerful episode of The Birth Seat: Our Heritage, Our Legacy, we address the critical issue of teen domestic violence, an often-overlooked topic with alarming statistics showing that 1 in 3 teens in the U.S. experience abuse in their relationships. We explore the signs, risks, and long-term effects of dating violence among young people, offering listeners crucial insights and resources for prevention.

    Guest co-host Amber Twyne, a Certified Doula Trainer, Childbirth Educator, Program Coordinator, and survivor of domestic violence, shares her expertise on the emotional, physical, and psychological impacts of abuse on teens. She also discusses the unique challenges Black teens face as they navigate these issues within cultural and systemic pressures.

    Our host, Elizabeth Mayaki (MC Mckinzie), and Amber interview two Delaware State University students, Jada Parks and Trinity Clark, who amplify the voices of young survivors and advocates working to break the cycle of violence.
