    Croix Bethune joined the Washington Spirit in 2024 and hit the field like she was shot out of a rocket. She tied an NWSL record for assists in just 17 games. Sadly her rookie season was cut short due to injury. But to put into perspective how great of a season she had, Croix still won the rookie of the year and midfielder of the year awards despite missing the last two months of the season.

    Croix is still rehabbing the injury, but she does seem poised to get back on the field soon. I can't wait for that. She called in to discuss the injury recovery, playing in Washington and what's coming up for the Spirit. I hope you enjoy my conversation!

    At the end of 2024 Chris Young surprised a lot of people by leaving his longtime record label, RCA, for Black River Records. At the end of the day, what record lable an artist is on means nothing to the fans. But to make a change after nearly 20 years in the same building, it is something that us music nerds took notice of.

    Last week Chris dropped his first new song from this venture with Black River called, Til The Last One Dies. I was excited when I found out that I'd have the chance to speak with Chris.     For my money, going to see the Washington Spirit at Audi Field in Washington DC is the best event around. It's such an incredible atmosphere, the Spirit staff really pull out all of the stops, it's super family friendly and the athletes pour their hearts out. My family and I have been to a few games so far and already have tickets for a few more this season. It's amazing.

    I'm hoping to help spread some of the Spirit love and excitement around the Baltimore area by having athletes from the team check in on my show from time to time to talk about what's going on with the team. My first guest this season is one of my favorite players on the team, Hal Hershfelt. Hall is in her second season with the Spirit. Her impact was immediately felt after being drafted last year.

    What a fun week this was. I'm realizing that if I want you all to call into the show, I have to think of weird and strange topics for you to add your thoughts to. I tried to talk about the beautiful weather and no one called in. But I ask you about the strangest snack you used to eat and the phone lines light up. Same with the scar stories. So let's bring on the weirdness. I love it.

    Also we had Todd Perkins and Ryan Wagner from Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore in the studio. We had a blast hanging out and talking about everything going on at Guinness. They've got a huge St. Patrick's Day celebration coming up that you're going to want to be a part of.

    It was a slow week due to the Super Bowl hangover and the snow that came through the area, but we still had some fun. Thursday (2/13) we had a lot of fun talking about the weird places you have fallen asleep. You all had some incredible stories for me. Thank you so much for calling in and sharing them.

    On Friday, Valentine's Day, we had Justin from Farmacy Brewing in the studio as part of our FeBREWary fun. Farmacy is one of my favorite (possibly my favorite) brewery in the Baltimore area.

    When you're listening, you might notice the conversaiton with Justin feels a bit disjointed at times. What you're hearing is a combination of the pieces from when we talked on the air combined with an off air conversation.

    We had a great week on the show. We had the annual debate about the day after the Super Bowl. Should it be a holiday or not? Seems the answers were split.

    My favorite moment of the week was when we discussed friends and who your oldest friend was. We got some great calls with heartwarming stories. I loved hearing all of these. I had too many to air during the show, so I put more in this podcast that you may not have heard on the air.

    Then on Friday we launched FeBREWary with Diamondback Brewing. Head brewer David Hooper came by the studio to talk about what's going on at Diamondback and shared some brews with the team here. We talked a lot on and off the air. I've attached the full conversation into the podcast where you can hear David discuss more about the specific beers we had a chance to taste.
