Season 3, Episode 10- The Importance of Practice: An Interview with Dane Austin

  • サマリー

  • This week, Jamie talks to Dane Austin, the owner of Dane Austin Design. Dane and Jamie chat about how he built his interior design practice, with an emphasis on practice and mentorship. Dane Austin believes that if we live in beautifully designed homes that are in alignment with our definition of comfort and wellness, our lives feel enriched and complete. It is that ideal upon which he founded Dane Austin Design in 2009. He is known for pushing classic design to a bold edge in a style that fuses daring color combinations and unexpected pairings. He approaches each project through a modern lens, creating compelling spaces that marry traditional and contemporary design. Dane and his team have fashioned an outstanding portfolio of award-winning work in luxury residences along the East Coast and throughout North America. His path to design started at the Corcoran School of the Arts and Design at George Washington University. He moved to Europe to study the history of decorative arts at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, London, and then to Paris where he attended the Institut d’Etudes Supérieures des Arts. Initially based in Washington, D.C., Dane moved his business headquarters to Boston in 2012. Widely published in regional and national publications, Dane has received numerous accolades, earning House Beautiful’s 2022 Next Wave Designer designation, New England Home Magazine’s 5 Under 40 Award, the IFDA Charity Challenge Award; and the Excellence in Design Award from ASID, among others.
