His birth father tried to sell him at birth, which led to his maternal grandfather adopting him while in his sixties. Jason remained close to his siblings and birth parents but was raised by his grandparents - whom he calls mom and dad.
At ten years old, Jason lost his birth mother to a horrific act of violence—and his birth father kidnapped one of his sisters, triggering a nationwide manhunt.
Jason has worked since the age of 14, and is now paying his own way through college. This summer, he’s interning at the Space Telescope Science Institute, turning tragedy into trajectory.
