  • How often do we misjudge people? How often are we offended by what people say or do? Scripture tells us the following: "For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart". Scripture also tells us to "know no man after the flesh", in other words don't look at their appearance. Why? Is it because we develop a calculus in our rational minds, sizing up a person? How often are we mistaken when we perceive someone from the outside? Perhaps most often; at least more often than not.

Come listen to Papa Tom as he relates real life stories that describe people who misjudged people because they were judging from the outside. What happens when you are annoyed by someone's behavior until they do something extraordinary like saving the life of your child. As a consequence you change your mind completely about that person.

Scripture tells us to walk by faith and not by sight. Nonetheless, many us are led by our soul; mind, will and emotions. Yet, God our Father sees people and things differently. "My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways," says the Lord. "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts higher than your thoughts."

Being willing and able to look into a person's heart and see them as God sees them is key to connecting to people and to God on a deeper level . As Yeshua told the Samaritan woman at the well: "the time now is when you shall worship God in spirit and in truth."

You may be "rough around the edges" yourself. But, know this God loves you for being just who you are; the real you. He sees you on the inside. Find out who you truly are and enjoy your life living there!
