  • サマリー

  • Welcome to RESILIENT EARTH RADIO where we host speakers from the United States and around the world to talk about critical issues facing our planet and the positive actions people are taking. We also let our listeners learn how they can get involved and make a difference.

Hosts are Leigh Anne Lindsey, Producer Sea Storm Studios and GM of KGUA 88.3FM (an independent public radio station on the Northern California coast), and Scott & Tree Mercer, Founders, Mendonoma Whale & Seal Study.

A focus of this podcast series are Nature-Based Economies that help rebalance the Earth and raise awareness about the value of whales, elephants, mangroves, seagrass, the deep seas, waterways and forests - our natural world - towards that rebalancing. This addresses the effects of our own human-caused climate change, and what we can do about it - from simple steps to grand gestures!

Global experts, citizen scientists, activists, fisher folk, and educators examine and explain ciritical issues facing our planet and actions people are taking to mitigate and rebalance climate. We discuss the critical role of carbon storage, and how it is essential for all life forms on earth.

This awareness could lead to new laws, policies and procedures to help protect these valuable resources, and encourage economies around them to replace the existing exploitation of oceans, forests, and animals.

Taking positive action, and getting people involved, that's our goal.

Production companies / Planet Centric Media Inc., a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, Sea Storm Studios, Inc. (a media production company), and KGUA public radio (Gualala, Mendocino County, CA), a project of NMRC, Native Media Resource Center, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit.

Planet Centric Media is Media for a Healthier Planet. Resilient Earth is a project of this 501 (c) (3) non-profit that is developing & producing media to elevate awareness of the interconnectedness of all living things.

I study how ecology, or organism-environment interactions, induce or select for different phenotypes and how these ecological interactions influence and are influenced by the evolutionary trajectories of populations and species.

  • All Aboard NOAA's Ships with ACCESS & Point Blue's Dr. Jaime Jahncke & NOAA's Dani Lipski as they gather data for Marine Protected Areas
    2024/12/22

This is a converstation with Danielle (Dani) Lipski, Research Coordinator, NOAA's
Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, and Jaime Jahncke, founder Point Blue Conservation Science, as they talk about their work off the Northern CA coast studying ocean data aboard NOAA ships.

ACCESS (Applied CA Current EcoSystem Studies) is a project formed by Point Blue Conservation Science, Cordell Bank National Marine Sanctuary, and Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctuary. ACCESS' core responsibility is conducting ocean research to inform resource managers, policy makers and conservation partners. ACCESS focuses on the oceanic habitats in Federal and State waters of northern and central California, encompassing Cordell Bank, Greater Farallones and Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuaries. These MPAs support marine wildlife conservation and healthy marine ecosystems in north-central California.

Dani and Jaime discussed the California Current ecosystem, highlighting its unique features such as the northwest winds that lead to upwelling, nutrient-rich waters, and the formation of feeding hotspots for seabirds and whales. They also clarified the locations of the Greater Farallons and Cordell Bank, both of which are part of the marine sanctuaries they manage. The conversation then shifted to the personal backgrounds of Dani and Jaime, with Dani sharing her experience working for the Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary and the merger

  • Jack Barksowki Critical Marine Mammal Research Stanford University Moss Landing Marine Labs and Cascadia Research
    2024/12/15

    Jack Barkowski
started working with Cascadia Research Collective in September 2021, helping collect data and run surveys to monitor baleen whale presence and behavior near the open and close of the Dungeness Crab Fishery in California. He is working on his MSc at Moss Landing Marine Laboratories, where he studies patterns in song and non-song humpback whale vocalizations along the U.S. West Coast. His research interests are focused on using acoustics to understand the function of sound in the lives of different marine mammals, and how these functions might be impacted by anthropogenic activities. Currently, Jack works on the SanctSound Project as a bioacoustic analyst, and as a field technician on the ADRIFT project, both of which use acoustics to monitor marine mammal presence in different areas of the U.S. West Coast. Jack will use his skills on the water and as an analyst to support CRC research projects in CA, OR, and WA.
