This week we’re doing our first listener request! Mikey also gets a chance to geek out over some of his favourite things as we talk about OG monster masher Van Helsing and his 2004 big screen feature film. We’ve got crossbows, vampires, werewolves, fizzing whizzbees, a very Scottish Mr Hyde and more!
Synopsis: ‘The famed monster hunter is sent to Transylvania to stop Count Dracula, who is using Dr Frankenstein’s research and a werewolf for nefarious purposes’.
Join us as we talk about the film’s scores, go over the whole plot and talk about trivia. We’ll also talk about the lack of silver bullets in Transylvania, why Hugh Jackman wasn’t allowed to be naked and the (apparently) legendary Transylvanian horses.
Thank you to listener Michael for requesting this one and pushing it up our list. If you would like to tell us what you thought of Van Helsing, suggest a rotten film you’d like us to talk about or just say hello you can email us at rankrottenpod@gmail.com, or contact us on Instagram which is @rankrottenpod. Stay fresh and thanks for listening!

Dracula: Minas Reckoning – it was actually the National Theatre of Scotland who put this show on. Here is the trailer for the play which ran early September to October last year in cities across the UK. Hopefully they do another run, we’d love to go again. We couldn't find the production of Jekyll and Hyde we saw, but I'm pretty certain that was also National Theatre of Scotland too.

We also referred to Courtenay, who has done many of Mikey’s tattoos. She’s a fab and friendly artist. If you’re looking for an artist in the Edinburgh area, here is a link to Courtenay’s Instagram so you can see the sort of stuff she does.

Lastly, here is a direct link to our Instagram should you want to follow us there. We share little clips of the upcoming episode each week so you can have a wee sneak peek.
