  • Don't Put Your Key In Other People's Pockets: Why Handing Over Your Life's Keys Destroys Dreams
    2025/04/11

In this raw and reflective episode of Private Memoirs of a Desperate Man, host Felix C. Arroyo takes us deep into the metaphor of keys—the dreams, passions, and potential we’re each born with. What happens when love turns into frustration? When compassion fades into bitterness? We often start handing our keys to others, believing they’re better equipped to unlock our purpose. But here’s the truth: your key doesn’t work in someone else’s lock.Felix opens up about life transitions—his children entering adulthood, his own journey through uncertainty, and the many times he gave away pieces of himself trying to fit into someone else's vision. This is a reminder to reclaim your key. Whether it's love, friendship, or your calling, stop dimming your light to follow someone else's path.Grab a drink, find a quiet spot, and join Felix as he unpacks how we can all find that key buried deep in our pocket and finally start opening our own doors. This one is about ownership, identity, and letting go of who you thought you had to be.Subscribe for more introspective episodes like this. 🔑✨—Links: 📰 Join the JMC Newsletter – https://mailchi.mp/71d4150f5147/the-jmc-collective💬 Reddit Community: r/pmdm_podcast_journal https://www.reddit.com/r/PMDM_Podcast_Journal/

  • Fellas, Please Don't Do That
    2025/04/09
Welcome back to Private Memoirs of a Desperate Man. I’m your host with the most, and today I’m diving into a topic that needs to be addressed more often—workplace behavior, respect, and the outdated "locker room talk" mentality that still lingers in 2025. This episode poses some powerful questions: Why are some men still romanticizing a time when objectifying women was normalized? Where do we draw the line between “locker room talk” and professional conduct? And how can we, as men, do better — especially for the sake of the next generation? I share a Reddit post I came across from the r/AskMenOver40 subreddit. The story involves a woman who’s dealing with a male coworker who constantly makes inappropriate comments about women—remarks about their appearance after Zoom calls, how they "should" dress, and even crude jokes about sex and relationships in the workplace. The post struck a nerve, not just because of how uncomfortable the situation is, but because of how common this kind of behavior still is in many male-dominated work environments. As a man who has worked in places like FedEx Freight and commercial construction, I've seen this kind of culture up close. There's a line that often gets blurred—between joking with your boys and being disrespectful in a professional setting. And it's not just about women; this same coworker harasses male colleagues too, masking cruelty as "just how men talk." I break down what this kind of behavior says about outdated masculinity, how it affects workplace culture, and why we should hold each other accountable—especially as fathers, husbands, and professionals. I’ve also launched a Reddit community for this podcast, where we can keep the conversation going and dig even deeper into these kinds of topics. Come join the discussion at r/PMDM_Podcast_Journal https://www.reddit.com/r/PMDM_Podcast_Journal/ Let’s talk about it. Let's be honest. Let’s grow. #WorkplaceCulture #RespectInTheWorkplace #RedditStories #PMDPodcast #PrivateMemoirs #PodcastForMen #Masculinity #ToxicWorkCulture #ModernManhood #Fatherhood #Professionalism

  • Hollywood Hand-Me-Downs
    2025/04/02

Disney is back at it again with another live-action remake, this time with Snow White—and the internet is divided. In this episode of Private Memoirs of a Desperate Man, I break down the controversy surrounding the film, including Rachel Zegler’s casting, changes to the classic story, and the backlash it’s facing. But the bigger question is: why does Hollywood keep race-swapping old stories instead of creating new ones?

We also look at past remakes like The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Peter Pan & Wendy—and discuss whether these adaptations are truly pushing for representation or just giving us recycled content with a new coat of paint. More importantly, why aren’t studios investing in original stories featuring people of color, like Encanto, Coco, and Vivo?

Join the conversation—do you think these remakes are a step forward, or should Hollywood start telling fresh, diverse stories from the ground up? Drop your thoughts in the comments!

  • What Is Your Standard In Life?
    2025/03/06
How you do anything is how you do everything. In this episode of Private Memoirs of a Desperate Man, I break down the power of having a standard—not just in the big moments, but in every aspect of life. I start with a personal failure (my unorganized garage) and explore how a lack of standards in one area can bleed into everything else. The greats—whether in business, sports, or the arts—don’t compromise on their standards. They hold themselves accountable, and that’s what sets them apart. So where are you slipping? Are your standards challenging you to grow, or are they just comfortable enough to keep you stagnant? I challenge you to take a hard look at your own standards and ask yourself: Are they truly pushing you to improve from yesterday? 👉🏾 Like, comment, and subscribe for more real conversations that make you think. #PersonalGrowth #Mindset #Standards #SelfDiscipline #Motivation #PMDM #Podcast #Success #ChallengeYourself #SelfImprovement
