  • サマリー

  • The renowned voice of the airwaves, Phil Wilson, famous for his morning show "Phil Wilson In The Morning" on Radio Shields, Saturday 7-10am and the syndicated sensation "Phil Wilson's Vinyl Revival," engages again in a captivating conversation with the ever soulful and funky Chris Amoo of The Real Thing.

Best known for their legendary hits You To Me Are Everything, Can’t Get By Without You and Can You Feel the Force, as well as their ground-breaking 1977 song, Children of the Ghetto, The Real Thing remain Britain’s most successful black group of all-time. Pioneers in soul, funk, and dance music, the two original members – Chris Amoo and Dave Smith – are now celebrating 50 years in the music industry (2024). Still gigging across the world, the band’s success and longevity is unprecedented in British entertainment history.

In 2019, the band were featured in a documentary called Everything - The Real Thing Story which was premiered in major cinemas across the country along with a special featured viewing on BBC Channel 4.

To coincide with this, BMG put out their Greatest Hits Album and this reached No 2 in the Amazon download charts. They have a great presence on Spotify, with monthly figures of over 9ook listeners!

On October 3rd 2024, The Real Thing were awarded the Roll of Citizen of Honour of the City of Liverpool. The award recognizes people who have made significant contributions to the city and its citizens. The Real Thing were recognized for their role in restoring Liverpool's reputation in the 1970s and their pioneering work in Black British music. To coincide they issued a commemorative song HOMETOWN which has already received over 37K Facebook views!

Now, over 50 years after they first formed, Britain’s most successful black group of all time are back with a fantastic, funky new song for Christmas! "Christmas Time" available now.
