    Dr. Rick Daniels, Director of Student Life and Campus Inclusion at Oakton Community College shared his viewpoint about equitable access to advanced education and the impact  investing in the futures of local students.

    He added that it is incumbent on higher education leaders to help find the resources for individuals to finance their education.

    Northfield Township's Board of Trustees approved a $100,000 scholarship program for residents, funding classes in fall 2022.

  • Community College- An Incubator To Dreams

    Dr. Rick Daniels, Director of Student Life and Campus Inclusion at Oakton Community College (Des Plaines/Skokie, Illinois, USA) shared his viewpoint about equitable access to advanced education and the impact of investing in the futures of local students. A product of the community college system during his formative years, Doctor Daniels stated, “ the community college environment is an educational incubator…where individuals can come and foster their dreams.” He went on to add, “as a Pell Grant recipient myself, I am a living example of how helpful that is to pursuing an education. As higher education leaders it is incumbent on us to help find the resources for individuals to finance their education.”

    Rick also discussed his feelings on the changing offerings at American community colleges, and  discussed certification programs to improve employment possibilities for many facing adversity.

    The Oakton Educational Foundation is administering a $100,000 grant from Northfield Township (Illinois) for the 2022-23 school year. Township residents are encouraged to apply for the needs- based grant funds at the  Oakton Community College Foundation
