Last summer, people didn't expect much out of Johnathan Kovacevic. Fast-forward a year, and he has transformed himself into one of the best defensive-minded defensemen on the roster. He has exceeded expectations and earned himself a nice contract extension from the New Jersey Devils. Trading for him was a smart move by Tom Fitzgerald.

It was recently announced that New Jersey Devils' play-by-play announcer Bill Spaulding will depart MSG. Longtime ESPN radio host Don La Greca will now replace him. La Greca also served as the backup broadcaster for the New York Rangers, and is also a New Jersey native. The news shocked many people. Dougie Hamilton's name is back in the rumor mill. Elliotte Friedman reports that the New Jersey Devils are exploring potential trades involving Hamilton.
