welcome back! it's really great to have you here. fun fact: i recorded this episode an hour before leaving to go to a movie screening + q&a in los angeles!!
**for those who are curious, the movie was "On Swift Horses." it was super cool to get to listen to the director, daniel minahan, and actor, kat cunning, share their experience(s) and perspectives on this film!
safe to say, emotions were high. even though i was simply in attendance, i couldn't help but feel the presence of nerves nonetheless. anytime i have to go to networking events or places where i know that i'll be sharing the space with powerful forces, i can't help but feel a tingle of overwhelm.
because of this, i wanted address the topic of self-confidence and navigating (any) industry as a newbie (or as many like to call me, developmental talent). why do we feel so uncomfortable in settings that we REALLY want to thrive in? why do we get so nervous to pitch ourselves to veterans in our industries? what does it really mean when we have a hard time looking at our own work or feeling like it's cringe-y?
i share some of my own brutally honest discoveries about this subject in hopes of giving you the confidence boost you need to charge forward on your path to greatness!
many of us are bound to feel this at one point or another. that's okay. what's *not* okay is allowing yourself too much leeway to be, well, lazy. are you creating work that makes you feel like you're on an upwards trajectory or are you simply rolling with the waves and leaning into the insecurity of not having all the answers or experience yet? i've been guilty of the latter, and, at some point we have to hold ourselves accountable for our success (or lack thereof!)
i'm eager to hear your thoughts on this topic. enjoy listening and let's discuss! this is my second episode and all of this began on a whim, so i'm very open to suggestions and feedback.
hope you love it!
xx
