Why "know Surrender" it is taken from a pamphlet I was given some years back and is a play on words. "No Surrender" is of course a well know phrase but to "know Surrender" that is to surrender your self to the Lord Jesus, the Christ is more than a well known phrase. It is the key to eternal life.

  • Five Points of Evangelical Religion - Bishop J C Ryle
    2025/07/21

J.C. Ryle's "5 Points of Evangelical Religion," outlines the foundational tenets of evangelical Christianity. Ryle identifies five core principles: the absolute supremacy of Holy Scripture as the sole authority for faith and practice, rejecting any other co-equal guide; the profound emphasis on human sinfulness and corruption, stemming from Adam's fall, necessitating radical spiritual healing; the paramount importance of Jesus Christ's work and office, asserting that salvation is achieved solely through simple faith in Him; the high value placed on the inward work of the Holy Spirit, stressing internal transformation as the root of true faith; and finally, the significance of the Holy Spirit's visible outward work in a believer's life, where fruit in conduct is the undeniable evidence of genuine grace. Ryle asserts these principles are not merely components but the chief and principal characteristics of evangelical theology, aligning with both Scripture and the Church of England's articles.

  • The Coming Apostasy and Defence of the Faith
    2025/07/21

Notes sermon on 2 Timothy chapter 3,from Pastor Ian Thompson, Bootle Protestant Free Church, focusing on the concept of "coming apostasy" and the defence of faith in what the speaker perceives as the "last days" of traditional Christianity. The speaker interprets biblical prophecies to suggest a societal decline marked by self-love, materialism, and a departure from genuine faith, even within religious institutions. Emphasising the authority and inspiration of Holy Scripture (specifically the Old Testament, as understood by Paul), the sermon advocates for strict adherence to biblical truth over modern interpretations or the doctrines of other Christian denominations, particularly criticising the Roman Catholic Church. It also touches on persecution faced by believers and the importance of personal discipline and prioritising God in all aspects of life, ultimately asserting that salvation comes solely through faith in Jesus Christ and His sacrifice.

  • The Necessity of Confession to Christ - not to a man
    2025/07/18

    Send us a text

The provided text, "Do You Confess? The Necessity of Confession to Christ" by J. C. Ryle, underscores the crucial role of confession in Christian faith. Ryle argues that all individuals are sinners and must confess their transgressions to God for salvation and inner peace. The author emphasises that this confession should be made directly to Christ, who serves as the ultimate High Priest, possessing the power, willingness, knowledge, tenderness, and empathy required to forgive sins. Conversely, Ryle firmly dismisses the notion of confessing to saints, angels, or living ministers, asserting that such practices lack Scriptural basis, are unnecessary, and can be detrimental. The text concludes with an exhortation for readers to embrace and maintain a lifelong habit of confession to Christ, highlighting its importance for spiritual well-being and eternal life.
