    With media reports swirling that Canada is in advanced discussions with the European Union on greater defense and security collaboration, listen to a lively discussion on the broader geopolitical realignment between the United States, the European Union and how Canada fits in.
    Both Washington, D.C.-based defense and security experts, Spencer P. Boyer and Ambassador Philip T. Reeker, partners at the DGA-Albright Stonebridge Group have had exemplary careers in the United States diplomatic service.

    Boyer leads DGA-ASG’s National Security, Defense, and Aerospace practice, informed by more than 25 years of experience in the public, private and non-profit sectors in the United States and Europe. Prior to joining the firm, he served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for European and NATO Policy, where he was responsible for managing the day-to-day defense relationship between the United States and NATO, the EU and more than 40 European countries. He also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs in the first Obama term.

    Before joining DGA-ASG, Ambassador Reeker, who leads the firm’s Europe and Eurasia Practice, served as Chargé d’Affaires at the U.S. Embassy in the United Kingdom from 2021 to 2022 and was Acting Assistant Secretary of State for Europe and Eurasia from 2019 to 2021. Before retiring from the Foreign Service, he was the Secretary of State’s Senior Advisor for Caucasus Negotiations. He draws on 30 years of diplomatic experience to support clients with interests across the Europe and Eurasia region.

    Their conversation also explored pressing international affairs issues beginning with their attendance at the 2025 Munich Security Conference and cover the War in Ukraine, the role of NATO and the future of diplomacy in our modern world.
