Exodus: The Provision | Exodus 16:2–12 | Bread from Heaven
Even after all they had seen—parting seas, God’s mighty hand, freedom from slavery—the people of Israel grumbled. In the wilderness, they hungered… and the Lord answered with bread from heaven.
God’s response to complaint was not wrath, but mercy. He heard the grumbling of His people and provided manna—not because they deserved it, but because He is faithful. This “bread from heaven” pointed forward to the greater Bread: Christ, who gives His own body for the life of the world.
We often grumble in our own wilderness seasons, forgetting how the Lord has provided in the past. Yet even still, He comes to us—through His Word and Sacrament—with grace for each day.
What wilderness are you walking through? Share your reflections in the comments—and encourage someone else who might be hungry for hope.
