Because it's really easy to feel like you deserve the punishment, that you brought this upon yourself, and you deserve to feel miserable, you don't deserve forgiveness. Why would God help you when you brought this upon yourself?

    But one of the great mysteries of the universe is the fact that God still wants to help us, even in moments like that. Perhaps especially in moments like that."
