Always wanted to be called Maverick? Or maybe something a little more mysterious, like Shadow or Electra? This is your moment. No legal paperwork, no explanations—just pure, unfiltered reinvention.

It's a quirky holiday, but it taps into something kind of profound: the idea that you have the power to define yourself, not just with your name, but with the identity you choose to embody.

And that brings us perfectly to today's quote from George Eliot, who once said:

Now, here’s a fun fact—George Eliot wasn’t George at all. She was Mary Ann Evans, a woman who used a male pen name in the 19th century to make sure her writing would be taken seriously. So, in the spirit of Name Yourself Day, she literally rebranded herself—and history remembers her by the name she chose, not the one she was given.

That’s what this quote is really about. Reinvention. Permission. Possibility.

Whether it's changing your name for a day or changing your life for good, the truth is—it’s never too late. Not to start fresh. Not to rewrite your story. Not to become the version of yourself you’ve always imagined. Even if that version has a cooler name.
