  • Have you ever wondered if you are good enough to read the Bible? Does it feel like you aren't qualified? I grew up in church so I thought I knew how to read it; I didn't! With a few footnotes, I want to share the resources and tips that opened the Bible for me. The word finally started to feel like that "living" word I always hear about. If you follow Christ, you have the Holy Spirit and that means you are qualified to read God's word. If you want to be, this is a great place to dip your toes in the water and see what this whole Jesus thing is all about. I believe that when you read about God's true character, from His own words, you won't be able to stop telling people about how your life is saved and changed. Jesus wants us to tell our story because it is HIS story. See Jesus rightly in the Bible, and see Him in your story.

    Chapter 14 is immense! I am breaking it into 2 episodes. Even as we read through these chapters at such a high view, there is just way too much going on for one week. Make sure you are reading through the chapter before you get to the podcast. If you have the time, I highly suggest listening to the chapter in 3 different versions. I typically use NIV, ESV, and NASB. Pick whatever translations are best for you. We are getting into Holy Week. Try not to get bogged down in logistics and timing. That can seriously draw your attention away from the miraculous events that are happening. In case you need a little visual aid though, here are some links to Easter Timelines:

    Sometimes this chapter is referred to as the "Markan Apocalypse". We need to pay attention to the first 2 verses to help us set the context for how to read this chapter. The image humanity has for "forever" is just not quite in line with the view God and His Son have. The mightiest stones will eventually pass away, but the words of Jesus Christ will not.
