This would give him a day to play with his friends and do other activities seven-year-olds typically do. When his mother asked him at breakfast what he planned to do with the day, he told her that he had an appointment that afternoon. While she thought this was just an innocent cover for playing with his girlfriend, when Gary neglected to return home that evening, the seemingly innocent appointment turned into something much more sinister.
