  • Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour with Mariam Massaro: #628
    2025/07/18

Gaea Star Crystal Radio Hour #628 is an hour of visionary acoustic improvised music played by The Gaea Star Band with Mariam Massaro on vocals, ukulele, acoustic guitar, mandolin and Native flute, Bob Sherwood on piano and Craig Harris on Native drum and congas. Recorded live on a sultry July day in 2025 at Singing Brook Studio in Worthington, Massachusetts. Today’s show begins with the appropriately summery “Double Winged Dragonfly”, a sun-soaked summer dusk song with an appealingly languid, drifting structure. “Celebrate Diversity” is a development of our first piece with a gorgeous Native flute coda and a fine, inspiring lyric from Mariam and “Bring It All Back” is a light, skipping folk song led by Mariam’s rustic mandolin and bluesy piano from Bob. “Queens Of The Forest” is a lush, languid, mysterious ballad with gorgeous vocals and slowly unfurling, drifting piano and “Let’s Embrace Our Grace” is a beautifully developed piece with a fine vocal, driving congas and a graceful power. “Circle Of Light”, originally recorded for Mariam’s “Gaea Star Crystal” album is stretched and repurposed into a sprightly, minimalist modern gospel song. We complete today’s hour with “A Bevy Of Goddesses”, a summer forest tale told by Mariam in conversation with her soaring Native flute, fundamental Native drum and emotional, R&B-inflected piano from Bob.
