In this episode, we dive into the evolution of the digital nomad lifestyle, resilience, and building global communities with Johannes Voelkner, a true pioneer in the nomad world.
A German slowmad and passionate kitesurfer, Johannes has traveled to 50+ countries while working remotely. He first built a global destination guide for nomads, then one of the largest Facebook groups for digital nomads (now 60K+ members), before launching Nomad Cruise—a unique experience that brought 1,500 nomads together at sea.
When the cruise ship company went bankrupt during Covid-19, Johannes reinvented himself, launching Nomad Base, the first international business & travel club for digital nomads, connecting like-minded entrepreneurs and remote workers at in-person events worldwide.
🚀 In this episode, we explore:
✨ How he built one of the biggest nomad communities from scratch
✨ The rise & fall of Nomad Cruise—and what came next
✨ Reinventing a business model after a major crisis
