    The Parable of the Talents

    Matthew 25:14-30

A second parable regarding the coming of Christ is given in this series of teaching about the end times. This parable emphasizes our conduct while Christ is gone from earth. Particularly, it has to do with the stewardship of our endowments or blessings. The parable reminds us that our stewardship will be subject to review when Christ returns.

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

    Matthew 25:1-13

This wedding portrays some important features of the coming of Christ, and Christ uses them to give a warning to be ready for His return to earth.

These lamps point out an important difference in the participants’ character and provide the lesson from this parable. “Five of them were wise and five were foolish

The wise took enough oil for their lamps but the foolish did not. The wise were prepared, the foolish were not.

No One Knows That Day and Hour

    Matthew 24:36-51

Two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left” (Matthew 24:40) is frequently spoken of as the experience of the rapture; namely, some will be taken with Christ in the rapture and some left. But the context says the ones taken here are taken for judgment (Luke 17:37) which means it is not the rapture.

  • The Lesson of the Fig Tree
    2024/12/19

The Lesson of the Fig Tree

    Matthew 24:32-35

The exhortation in the parable.Learn” (Matthew 24:32). The parable begins with an exhortation to “learn” from it. This is the same exhortation we need when we read Scripture. We do not read Scripture just to say we have read the Bible through in a year but to “learn” from the Word of God.

The example in the parable. When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh” (Matthew 24:32). The fig tree example illustrates how the early growth of the tree is a forecast of things to come. It is an example of what these forecasted conditions indicate regarding the end of the age. “So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors” (Matthew 24:33). Since many of these conditions are in existence today, we are obviously near the time of the end. We can be justified in saying, “Look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh” (Luke 21:28).

The Coming of the Son of Man

    Matthew 24:29-31

As the lightning cometh” (Matthew 24:27). Lightning is characterized by speed and suddenness. When looking at a stormy sky, suddenly lightning will streak across the sky. Christ’s return will be like that. In the midst of stormy conditions on the earth, suddenly Christ will return. The suddenness of the return warns there will be no time to repent when He returns. “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed” (Proverbs 29:1).

  • The Abomination of Desolation

    The Abomination of Desolation

    Matthew 24:15-28

One of the conditions that characterize the end times is the corruption of worship in the Temple in Jerusalem.. It refers to abominable practices which led to desolation of the Temple a In Daniel 9:27; 11:31; and 12:11 are references to abominable practices in the Temple that resulted in the desolation. Some of the practices going on in our church services today with rock music and other like things makes it easy to understand how abominable practices will be performed in the Temple. God is to be worshiped in holy ways or judgment will be severe.

    Matthew 24:3-14

The teachings and signs of Matthew 24 do not concern the rapture of the church, a truth not yet revealed (1Th 4:14-17: 1Co 15:51-52). Instead they generally address matters which will occur during the Seventieth Week of Daniel, especially the Great Tribulation.
