On June 3, in the Benson neighborhood, patrol responded to an alleged burglary at a local business. Entry appeared to be forced overnight; no arrests have been made, and the case is under investigation.
The Midtown district on June 4 saw an alleged robbery near the intersection of 38th and Dodge. The suspect, described as a Black male in his early twenties, approximately 6 feet tall and wearing a red hoodie, reportedly displayed a handgun and demanded property from a pedestrian before fleeing on foot. Investigators are seeking public assistance in identifying the suspect. The case is open.
In South Omaha on June 5, an alleged assault occurred near 24th and Q streets. Responding officers noted minor injuries to one adult male, who declined medical attention. No arrests were made at the scene, and detectives continue to investigate.
On June 6, in the West Omaha Lakeside area, officers responded to a report of catalytic converter theft from a commercial parking lot. Surveillance footage is under review, and detectives are following up on several leads.
No homicides were reported during the week. There were multiple calls regarding suspicious persons in the Downtown Old Market district, but no charges resulted from these incidents.
Significant trends for the week include an uptick in vehicle-related offenses, including thefts and attempted break-ins, particularly in public parking areas. Police urge residents to remain vigilant, secure vehicles, and promptly report suspicious activity.
Anyone with information regarding any of these incidents is encouraged to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at (402) 444-STOP. For emergencies, dial 911.
