We are so excited to publish this week’s episode in which we interview Dr. Summer Braun – an assistant professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Alabama.

Dr. Braun’s program of research primarily focuses on understanding the associations between teachers’ occupational health and well-being and their students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development using a variety of methodological approaches. Her work bridges research and practice by studying interventions designed to support the well-being of teachers and students, such as mindfulness-based wellness programs. In this episode, we chat about teachers’ well-being, the effects of mindfulness practices, and even do a mindfulness body-scan activity!

Long time no listen! While the Fall semester heated up Cassie and I needed to cool down – but we’re back! In this episode, we interview one of Cassie’s mentors from her undergraduate days, Dr. Jon Gore. Dr. Gore is faculty at Eastern Kentucky University. Not only does he have a prolific lab that engages undergraduates in research, he is also an accomplished hip-hop artist and creative writer who is on his 24th book! In this episode, he shares his wisdom on leading a student-driven lab, discusses his research (on the self, goal motivation, and even dreams), critiques the traditional text-test format, and how to vet RAs and build a healthy personal life + lab culture.
