What is the VALUE, the WORTH of the Christmas Story? It might be worth holding it for a minute and turning it around a bit.

You'll find that it is a love story and you are smack dab in the center of it. It is the good stuff of God. It is a treasure for us. It is worth hearing and speaking the right words after it is over. It is GOOD NEWS of GREAT joy.

What will you do when you are on "the dark and stormy" sea of a spiritual situation? Well, it won't be your first spiritual day. It won't be your 'Groundhog Day.'

Of particular note in the story of the disciples watching Jesus walk on water is that they needed to be considering the lessons of the feeding of the 5000, when they were on the boat! The disciples find themselves in a boat, with a nod to Snoopy, "On a dark and stormy night." These guys didn't mean for it to be like this. They didn't start when it was dark, or stormy. In such an upheaval, Jesus shows up...walking on the water.

When do people call out to God? Frequently when they are wet, tired and afraid. Frequently, on dark and stormy nights...

When playing the game of make-believe, one often requires an ability, without which one will fail in the quest. The same is true in the spiritual life.

In the feeding of the 5000, Philip and Andrew are TESTED. (Don't be surprised at our testing in impossible circumstances.) Not everybody passes the test. One remembers and one forgets HIS SUPERPOWER. Andrew basically says, "My SUPERPOWER is that I have ACCESS to a super powerful Superpower.

Miracles are divine interruptions that help identify the activity of the divine. They give us opportunities to then respond to the divine moment. That is all good news. The bad news is that miracles always start with a PROBLEM.

The identification of this problem is the beginning of a miracle and sometimes the beginning of faith. We'd best lift up our eyes to see the Divine (Jesus) lifting up His eyes to notice and help us in our problems.

My actual physical Bible is my single favorite object on this earth. Absent what it reveals, specifically WHO it reveals, it is WORTHLESS. It is the OBJECT of the Scriptures, that give the Scriptures their VALUE.

As it turns out, the Scriptures are doing EXACTLY that: revealing God. So then, I can "love the pages" because of WHO the pages reveal.

What if in the court of your heart, you didn't allow certain expert witnesses that corroborate the claims of Jesus? That certainly would not be just.

Jesus is calling for a fair assessment of the claims He makes. An accurate, thorough evaluation is all He asks.
