  • Santa Cruz city officials issue all-day surf warning

    City officials in Santa Cruz have issued a warning, not only to residents but also to out-of-town visitors, after the pounding waves destroyed a portion of the Santa Cruz wharf yesterday. Things are getting back to normal at SFO following American Airlines' nationwide outage earlier today. 22 years ago today, on Christmas Eve, a young pregnant woman disappeared from her Modesto home while her husband was away on a fishing trip. Strong waves continue to batter the Santa Cruz County coast, with some of the worst-hit areas looking at swells of up to 60 feet high. A high surf warning remains in effect until at least 6pm this evening. The San Francisco-Marin Food Bank needs of your help—it's raised only 80% of it's fundraising goal for 2025. Christmas isn't the only holiday happening this week—Hanukkah and Kwanzaa celebrations also get underway later this week.
