In 2017, host Cristina Norland started a podcast out of her closet dedicated to advocating for cold case murder victims. Cristina covered the unsolved murder of David Cox, which took place in 1994 in Medfield, Massachusetts. At the time, most of the news about David's murder was sensational due to his connection to the movie 'A Few Good Men'. Cristina was the first podcaster to dig deeper and speak with David's family and friends, and others who knew him directly. She got close to the family and to David's case, perhaps too close... Authorities believe David walked into the woods with his killer, in a foot and a half of snow, wearing sneakers and his Marine Corps jacket – which he pretty much never wore. He had a gunshot wound in the base of his neck and three more in the left side of his torso. David's time stationed in Gitmo while serving in the Marines inspired the 1992 hit movie 'A Few Good Men' starring Tom Cruise. Because of the sensational Hollywood connection, David's murder was featured on Unsolved Mysteries at the time and made headlines around the world, but the sensation and conspiracy theories may have hid the truth. In today's episode, we hear from Don Marcari who was David Cox's lawyer in Gitmo after he was involved in the hazing of a fellow marine. David and the other marines involved in the incident were charged with attempted murder and faced decades in jail. But, there was an offer on the table - David could take an 'other than honorable' discharge and go home. It sounds like an easy decision, but David said he was simply following orders and he decided to fight the charges in court.

This true story became the inspiration for the hit Tom Cruise movie 'A Few Good Men.' Not long after the movie was released and back home in Massachusetts, David was murdered. He was shot from behind once in the base of the neck and three more times in the left side of his torso. His case remains unsolved.
