    Building your business, you're the CEO. You make all the calls, do work you love, take projects you care about—but you also carry all the risk.

    Building someone else's business, you're an employee. You work on the projects they give you, with people you may or may not get along with—but you get a steady paycheck, benefits, and a team of people who share responsibility for the success or failure of what you do.

    There are pros and cons to both. The question is: Is it a failure to lay down your own business to build someone else's business?
