このコンテンツについて
Thomas Dixon nearly died on 11/22/10 when the car which hit him led into his losing most of his ability to remember life moving forward. Keenly aware of his overwhelming inability to recollect his post-injury experiences, others reacted to Thomas as if his life was over.
Yet he was still living it. “I'm sorry...”. That is all he heard at first.
But we now live at a time of incredible opportunities being created given societal changes spurred on through the greater prevalence of personal technology. As we continue into the future, the limits of what we may be able to accomplish through digital means remain without clear boundaries.
Thomas realized that he did not have to suffer because of his severely-compromised episodic memory. Instead, why not invent a solution? His present-day reality of life with a digital memory mobile application, "ME.mory", has instead led to his now often hearing the words: “That's awesome!”
Who among us would not wish to have a superhuman memory ability? The solution of ME.mory now provides Thomas and others with rapidly-searchable, artificial memories. As revealed in this story of how a survivor of a traumatic brain injury thrives even though he is unable to naturally remember his own life, modern technology provides us all with emerging opportunities as shown in this work for the benefit of everyone.
This memoir combines the drastic losses which occur due to severe episodic memory deficits with the greater agency currently afforded to all of us as made capable via ingenuity and technology. In this book memory loss is considered within the present-day environment of novel solutions heretofore unimaginable. All of us may never need to worry about recalling key life events ever again.
